4.3.2 On Sale Page

The new On Sale page appears to only include products discounted via the Price field. It does not seem to include products discounted via Promotions.

Am I missing something? Why would promotions not be included?

yup it sucks

yes it's the case… i tought this was an issuse but cs cart responded it will slow down sql queries…so it has to be done via the list or recommended price…

Well what a completely useless page.

Omitting something b/c it will slow down sql queries doesn't make any sense at all if that omission makes the functionality completely useless.

A slower page that functions would be better than this; this isn't usable in either of the shops I administer. One is a MV shop with nearly 50 vendors & 20k products. Why on earth would they want to manage promotions manually?! Even in the smaller shop which is just a single store with 350 products we won't be managing sales by changing each price manually. Stupid.

totally agree, its useless!

On sale products page addon will solve this problem.

Thank you! I'll review this ASAP especially for the MV shop.

I am sure for next release this will be fixed same as filters on homepage. Interesting business strategy remove and put backs features and charge money for updates :)

If the on sale page does not display the products on sale that were discounted through promotions, then surely that is a bug.

The On Sale page should show all products on sale. Otherwise the function is useless.

No No that’s not about us, as thought it might look like this.:))

The homepage filters were removed because we did not have enough time to test it and include to 4.3.1 - and the delay of 4.3.1 for several weeks more was not a good idea.

Remember we completely refactored Filters in 4.3.1 to make it really fast. Filters on homepage that’s the kind of extra feature that was developed separately after main filters were ready. That what has happened.

[/quote] no bug, its as designed

The main problem with Promotions is that it's calculation is very time consuming process. So it can either lead to slow page load or some bugs. That's ok when you have several promotions but there are many cases when people automatically generate promotions and there can be hundreds of them.

In other words we won't add promotion products to this page until we are completely sure it will work smoothly at any CS-Cart store.

Why not cache it once per hour? There is no need to do the same calculation for every user.

The same concept goes for many calculations though.

It would be nice if we could replace our addons for the On Sale page with the stock functionality. I was really enthusiastic to see this implemented in CSC4.3 so would be great to see it fully functional.

Yes, why is this basic math recalculated every time? It shoud be calculated once when the promo goes into effect and then recalced again if the time has run out.

Yes, many if not all stores use promos. If you're concerned about store speed you should look at these issues.

As for the sale page, why impletement it if it doesn't really work?

I find myself running 3 versions back on cs-cart, because each release has new bugs/issues like this that take additional releases to fix and have basic functionality. My store is customized so updating costs us time and money and then find out that the features that were advertised aren't really there or working…

+1

Extremely disappointing issue. The on sale page must work with promotions, otherwise it is comepletely useless!

On cs-cart you just have to push money every time you need something !

Promotions is a big DEAL in a store ! A lot of sales made by promotions pages !

cs-cart its worst than opencart or any free solution ! Why to buy cs-cart if its only a simple store ?

We have 3 licences but we have moved 5 clients to magento ! It`s free and works !
