A Question About The New Saas.

Why doesn't SAAS have a store import add on ?

I am still using 3.0.6

I will certainly not be paying several hundred dollars to have someone else

move my store data so it looks like I will be calling 3.0.6 on my own server

home for a while yet.

Such a shame because the years of hassle were 'almost' over…lol

Hi,

Use export/import to move your store's data from CS-Cart to Merchium. It should work just fine.

With design it's more tricky. Probably there will never be an automatic tool to transfer design form CS-Cart 3.0.6 to Merchium. Moving design from CS-Cart 3.0.6 to Merchium means recreating the CS-Cart design in Merchium. We recommend Simtech Development for the job.

It was so much easier 3.0.6 > 4.1.3 using the Store Import add on.

I don't want design exported, just products, orders, users etc.

I guess it's easy when you live and breathe php…lol

That would have been too easy**

Just checked the CS-Cart video tutorials for Data Export / Import

No luck.

Yes I have read the manual and KB article but honestly it's like

( as usual ) explaining a procedure while presupposing foreknowledge

not possessed by most cart buyers.

Thanks for trying to help Konstantin.

Merchium is not cs-cart.

The store_import of cs-cart requires that the source and destination be on the same server. Can't do that with Merchium since the destination would be on a separate server. They could accept a mysqldump of the database and then use that to effectively do a store_import but I doubt they want to be responsible for integration between cs-cart and Merchium since they are really completely different beasts.

I think Merchium should create its own forum and should be treated like any other 3rd party product that is referenced here (I.e. posts about it deleted). Otherwise as time goes on, customers are going to get very confused about Merchium and cs-cart since the two will be on completely separate development/feature tracks. The only thing they have in common is that they are owned by the same company.

Yes tbirnseth, it is becoming more than obvious that Merchium is a 'new' store proposition.

I will most likely keep trying to get 4.1.4 to replace my 3.0.6 on my own server.

At least Store Import works for me but I was rushing before and panicked too easily ( resulting in

my re-instating 3.0.6 each time I was 'almost' there ).

The last time ( from memory ) I forgot to change the url in 4.1.4 and panicked when the site couldn't be found…lol

The Merchium site's forum certainly won't inspire new users though as it's not very active at all.

Perhaps they should register a few users to contribute and keep it 'fresh'.

A shame really because it's a great concept.

Merchium does have its own forum at help.merchium.com. Although, as you've pointed out, Merchium and CS-Cart are different products, they're still relatives. So we'd rather answer Merchium-related questions here as well.

This is exactly the case. Sorry for not mentioning it myself, and thank you for mentioning it for me.

I'm sure you would, but it should stand on its own and not confuse people by having them post issues related to merchium that are not related to cs-cart. They are only relatives in that they come from a common ancestor. As generations progress, they will diverge more and more.

Funny hardly anyone from cs-cart can spend time answering questions on the “community” forum, but any Merchium question gets a quick response here from the Merchium team. Again, it's a different product and should not be addressed in the cs-cart forum.

So why don't you offer them the ability to upload a mysqldump of their cs-cart database and then import it to a temporary DB and use it for the store import?

We may provide this opportunity later. Currently, the priorities are different.

I have sign up for this service, 24 hours to get a ticket acknowledgement is a bit long. We are all here to run an e-commerce web site. Would you like cs-cart.com to be down for 24 hours? Also I have a lot of product and customers to move with no way of doing that. I have many products with 100 or more variants. There is no import for products variants on the Merchium web site. Right now maybe a waste of time. If it was a new e-commerce I would use the service.

Could you please tell me which ticket you are referring to?

Have you tried using CSV export and import to migrate your products and product features?

cakethings.

I was able to upload 500 products easily enough, and I am no expert.

I didn't try the images because I was just testing and my image folder is 1.5 gig

One problem was that product descriptions won't upload unless they are wrapped

in " ". Example Bright and red won't upload but “Bright and red” will.

I was stumped and couldn't upload descriptions because I couldn't figure a way

( using Open Office calc ) to add the " either end of the descriptions.

I did a few manually and they uploaded but had the " as part of the descriptions.

The features worked somewhat, I shoud have tried that before. The prices and weight did not import.

Can you move this conversation to a Merchim forum? Merchium != cs-cart and this is a cs-cart community forum.

Tony, it probably allows them to market the SaaS more by allowing post here, but I agree, it is very confusing and should not be in the “CS-Cart” forum.
