I'm trying to deplete my stock of ProductX. I want to offer a promotion as follows:
Buy ProductX and receive either ProductY or ProductZ free.

I can't seem to get this working. I created the promo, added the whole shirts category as a condition, and added my free shirt as a bonus with “any option combinations.” When I add a shirt to my cart, I automatically get the free shirt, but it's locked in a specific size and color.

We have checked it on online demo. Everything is working fine there.
We have an opportunity to change the size of a free product in the cart on demo Cs-Cart.
Sure that you should check the bug tracker or contact the Cs-Cart helpdesk.

Try to delete the promotion and create it again. Sometimes it helps
