CS-Cart SaaS Is Live: Merchium

Hello,

We are pleased to announce that the SaaS-based version of CS-Cart, Merchium, is live. Learn more in the official announcement in the Merchium blog.

Merchium is a SaaS solution that combines the power of CS-Cart with the easiness of SaaS. To start an online store with Merchium, just fill out a short form and hit a button. The store will be ready to use within 10 seconds. No installation or server configuration required.

If you are familiar with CS-Cart, getting to know Merchium will be easy. It has almost all the same features, and the admin panel looks quite the same.

Merchium is available in three plans: Gold, Platinum, and Unlimited. All three offer unlimited products, orders, and traffic, as well as 0% transaction fee.

Moving from CS-Cart

If you plan to move from CS-Cart to Merchium, just export your data from CS-Cart and import it to Merchium. Because Merchium is based on CS-Cart, dat migration will work just fine.

Design migration is currently unavailable, so you should simply recreate your storefront design using the built-in visual theme editor and style editor.

Follow Merchium on Twitter and Facebook to have the latest updates.

We will be happy to answer all your questions about Merchium in this thread.

Thanks!

Can you please explain how SAAS works with a SSL. Is a secure certificate provided in your cost?

Also, can we choose what country (for example, U.S.) the cart is hosted in or is everything in Russia?

Looks great! Good job and good luck! :-)

Looks very nice. Any chance you will provide more payment methods? Or will that happen when you open the Merchium Marketplace later this year? I would love to have Stripe there.

great, more products to take your attention away from fixing the massive amount of bugs in your software.

Congratulations on your new platform. I Sincerely hope it does well for you.

Now I'm holding my breath to see what becomes of the licensed version. Fingers crossed that 4.3 is not the last.

Why is it such a big deal to have our own ssl certificate as compared to using a shared certificate ?

Developers want you to pay monthly fee not just single purchase of the code. Merchium will not be successful, it takes lots of work to make a really successful shop, would never do this on rented shop without having any control of server, data security and so on…

So can we take a CS Cart database dump and use that to import into Merchium?

A common SSL certificate issued for *.mymerchium.com is provided by default to all Merchium stores. I.e., its price is included in the subscription cost. For custom domains, we will introduce the ability to load custom SSL certificates soon.

Merchium is hosted by Amazon in the US only.

We count on our partners and the Merchium Marketplace. We'll introduce the necessary API methods, so that third-party developers will be able to extend Merchium with new payment services.

Why is it such a big deal to have our own ssl certificate as compared to using a shared certificate ?

Let me explain this with an example.

Say, you have a Merchium store, e.g. mystore.mymerchium.com. It uses our shared certificate which is common for all *.mymerchium.com subdomains.

Now, you assign a custom domain to your store, e.g. mystore.com, but you don'y upload a custom certificate for this domain. Not having a certificate for mystore.com means that you cannot use this domain in your secure storefront URL.

Now, when your customer enters a https page in your store, she or he will be redirected to the mystore.mymerchium.com domain, since this is the one protected by a certificate. This may be confusing for a customer—shopping on http://mystore.com and paying on https://mystore.mymerchium.com.

To avoid this, you should upload a custom certificate issued for your particular custom domain, and refer to this domain in the secure storefront URL. This way, your customers shop on http://mystore.com and pay on https://mystore.com, nice and clear.

I hope this explanation is useful.

You are welcome to use self-hosted CS-Cart instead. It's really a matter of taste: lots of people love SaaS, because its much easier to start with and maintain, yet some people prefer self-hosted solutions.

We're happy to be able to provide products for the both groups.

Currently, there's no automatic production-ready solution for DB transfer between CS-Cart and Merchium (though we have plans to offer such opportunity in the future). We could try to transfer your data manually though.

Please contact our support team regarding this issue.

Any updates on the Affiliate program and/or developer docs? Seems like there not so much happening.

Hi guys. Went to check out www.merchium.com and it redirects to www.merchium.com.au but won't load. Error code: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

I was trying to find out if the basic store was mobile friendly or not.

I guess I will find out later.

We're already fixing the issue. Thanks for reporting!

The redirect loop at merchium.com.au should be fixed now.

Hi! The docs are already available at http://docs.merchium.com. To develop apps and themes for Merchium, contact us at partners@merchium.com.

The affiliate program is not yet launched, and I can't share any details about it so far.

Thank you Konstantin.

Australia is now alive.

Rather than playing the waiting game I will try

a diy export then import. Can't hurt to try.

Questions.

Why is there an advantage in having your own SSL certificate

compared to using the shared one ?

I will not be storing cc details, only using PayPal as a payment method

so using a shared ssl certificate should be fine. Correct ?

If I have my own domain name can I still use the shared SSL certificate ?
