Help Wanted | Optimize Vps For Cs-Cart

We’re experiencing 1-3 second response times with our stores.

I’m looking for someone to go in and optimize the VPS and carts (3x 4.2.4).

With 5gigs of ram and 24 cores @ 2.00GHz Xeon, I think the response time could be a bit quicker :-)

Does anyone have any recommendations on who to go with or stay away from?

Feel free to send me a private message.

thanks!

What kind of load do you have? What are the types of drives? Why do you have 24 cores and only 5GB of memory?

Briefly, most php/mysql sites make heaviest use of disk, memory and cpu (in that order). Hence optimizing both the hardware for disk and the file buffering on the server gets the biggest bang for the buck. SSD drives make a huge difference in performance.

Memory is the next biggest bang for the buck. Personally, I think 4GB should support most small merchants. But not knowing your load, 5GB could be overkill or insufficient. What do your memory statistics for your VPS say?

Are your 3x - 4.2.4 a single multi-store Ultimate site? Or is it 3 separate installations?

For help, you need to be very specific about what you want help with.

Good questions… This is why I need someone to go in and take a peek at what I have. Tell me if it's overkill and make sure I have it set up correctly.

System information

Server load 1 (24 CPUs) Memory Used 37.13% (1,946,544 of 5,242,880) Swap Used 0% (0 of 1)

I selected an off the shelf VPS, knowing I needed a decent amount of memory. Futurehosting.com said it included high performance SAS drives in RAID 10 along with a SSD drive dedicated to read caching for increased performance.

As of right now I have 3 separate installations of CS-Cart, but by the end of the year I'll consolidate 2 installations into a single Ultimate.

Both being 4.2.x…

I've also got a few wordpress sites running on a separate cpanel.

Suggest you have your host look at your performance over a period of time and identify what (if any) optimizations can be made. Finding someone who is a mySQL expert (none here that I know of) can help a lot in getting the mySQL config tuned to your needs.
