Multi Language Website

Can you configure a multi-language website that language versions appear as a subdomain?

Example:

en.mydomain.com

de.mydomain.com

etc

Thanks

Hello,

We will be glad to help you, please contact us if you are interested.

Sincerely yours,

CS-Market.

Be careful about license costs. Subdomains will be seen as separate sites from a licensing standpoint.

As the websites will use only one database, not an additional storefront, and differ from each other only in languages, we think that there is no need to buy an additional license.

Nevertheless you should first ask about it CS-Cart.

Second domain can be just added as alias to the main license. There is no need to buy additional license.

The license terms we forgot to take into account, we will contact support. If I can ask them for advice on how to disable this modification in terms of SEO site.

It is the most ideal learning for multi-language Web sites running on cs-cart?

Thanks!

The vast majority of clients I have that use multiple languages simply use the SEO rule setting to include the language in the URL. I.e. for mypage.html, the URI ends up: yourserver.com/en/mypage.html.

This gives you the added benefit of being able to provide a translation for 'mypage' in the other languges too. Ie. en/hello.html, es/hola.html, fr/bonjure.html. Which makes a lot more sense for multiple languages than using a subdomain since it's not really a different site, but a translation of a common site.

Tbirnseth,

I have been chewing on your suggestion ´…to include the language in the URL…´ trying to figure out the best (SEO) way on how to implement this in CS-Cart. Our current situation does show the language, but is not working from a SERP viewpoint.

I have also read and was inspired by this blog post ´Ultimate guide to multilingual and multiregional SEO´ http://searchenginel…onal-seo-157838

I did not find any settings in CS-Cart (4.1.3) which allows me to alter url for languages, or am I missing something? We are not running any SEO URL friendly add-ons

Thanks in advance

Olof

-------------------------------------------

For those interested… some more details of our current situation in CS-Cart 4.1.3:

We run a 4-language website under 1 domain but a Google search on Company Name will only return the english language website. Regardless from which country you search from and which browser language settings you have. Very frustrating.

Our website will present the relevant language based on the visitor's primary language setting in his browser. For example, a visitor with German as his primary browser language will type in www.ABC.com but will get served

http://ABC.com/index.php?sl=de

If this German visitor goes deeper into the website, notice how the URL is not displaying any language code, but it will display the German language version of that page:

http://ABC.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=467

If you just change the setting in the SEO addon for “include language in URL”, then your indiex page would become

http://ABC.com/de/

if ABC.com were access directly and a product page might look like:

http://ABC.com/de/my-product.html

ok, thanks again for the valuable information.

Instead of turning on the standard SEO add-on, I will probably then purchase this 3rd party SEO add-on (CSCartrocks 'SEO Ultimate addon') given its positive reviews

So, another step further in trying to educate myself on setting up an SEO-optimal structure for multiple languages. Tbrinseth´s earlier comments on his clients is very similar to what google says about multi-language sites…

https://support.goog…er/182192?hl=en

So the goal is clear: follow what Tbrinseth says… :-)

But CSC´s own SEO-addon has 3 settings which are confusing and not well explained in the manual nor KB.
[]Use single URL for all languages:

[
]Show language in the URL:

Support multi-language URLs:
A. You can check both 1 & 2 but to me they are mutually exclusive. What am I missing in the underlying definitions?

B. 3 seems similar to 2, so what is the difference? Again you can check both.

C. Why on earth is this an CSC-addon instead of being part of core-CSC? SEO is an essential part of a webshop.

Lastly, on the google page there is an additional pitfall mentioned:

…Avoid automatic redirection based on the user’s perceived language. These redirections could prevent users (and search engines) from viewing all the versions of your site…

Our homepage presents the correct language based on primary browser language of the visitor. As a convienct-service to the visitor. But, the above Google statement would seem to say that such practice should not be implemented…

Cheers,

Olof

1 says basically ignore any language differences but use the core language of the cart as the language to use in the url.

2 says to make the language part of the URI

I have no idea on 3.

The reason it's an addon is that there is no requirement in cs-cart that a hosting site support rewrites. I.e. you can run cs-cart just find without it. Additionally, there are many other marketing methods (regardless of what Google wants you to think) to market your products and that could care less what the URL looks like or whether it's “friendly” or “optimized” for a search engine.

Hi All

Sorry to resume this old topic, but one of few coming up with appropriate keywords so... can be ok for future researches.

My Question here is

How do React CS Cart (single license) when an existing site with let says. 3k indexed links by S.E. Switch On the
*add the language suffix in the URL/URI ?

I do mean:

will CS Cart Take care to rewrite All the OLD URLs / URIs and to present them to the S.E as Usual

OR

will 'present' all the URLs/ URIs ( given they've got the Lang suffix in it ) as NEW Links to S.E.

and all the previous Indexed ones will go on 404 ?

This is very important I guess, not just for me.

Thanks for yourhelp and advice

I have just checked this behaviour on the demo store. Unfortunately, the system will show 404 for old URLs. Additional modification is required to add 301 redirect from old URLs to new ones (with language code)

Hi

Thanks for reply.

Actually I cannot open it, But CS Cart Help Desk has been made aware of this problem
and did confirm ( this morning) that NO rewtrite does occour after adding the SEO Language Suffix in URL.

So... It seem to be not a Bug , or else, just as this cart has been built

feeling a bit let down honestly.

Wow. It is strange for me to hear that. I should be built-in feature if you decided to add new languages after some time

Yes, it's totally against the mission also I think.

You expect CS cart to be the Next level Cart when you leave all those freebies and fremium out there.

So you start with a langiuage, your one or your relevant market and Then you keep growing and enlarge toward other markets.

SO , at that stage , to mess up all your hard work on taxonomies and SEO SEM does seem (sorry) not quite smart.

Given that implementing another language/s will result in ...a mess on falling 404s everywhere on your primary store/language .

Well, possibly most user/ store owners do start straigh with Eng, so... that' s enought.
