Promotion- 25% Everything Off But Exclude Clearance Items.

I'm having trouble setting up a promotion.

I want to offer %25 OFF the product price for items in particular sections, however I don't want the promotion to be applied to items in my clearance section.

Any suggestions on how to exclude products from promotions?

add a conditions, categories/products “not in”

John

Unfortunately, that doesn't work.

That basicly voids the entire promotion if you have a clearance item in your cart.

bump to the top…

I'm sure there is a way to do it.

Dear Nathand,

To say the truth John gave you correct advice.

It is possible that the problem is in a third-party modification.

Please provide us with screenshots of the promotion conditions and bonuses sections. It should not void the entire promotion

Yes, I'm having the same problem. I want the discount to apply only if they purchase a certain amount from specific categories and as soon as they add an item that is in another category, it cancels out the discount even though they are eligible.

– In this case, I use “Order Subtotal” >= $125.00 but “NOT IN” several categories (meaning, they have to spend in the other categories). But as soon as a product is added tot he cart from one of these other categories in the “NOT IN” it removes the discount.

could be a bug. submit it to bug tracker

I went as far back as 4.0.1 and still have the same issue. So if it's a bug, it's hung around for a very long time.

Ahh, I mis understood, then that seems correct, goods subtotal is fine but you have a category not in. So soon as you add a product from the not in then it will cancel the promo.

May be try the and "category in " AND “category not in” together

Yeah, I tried that, too. Same thing.

Tested in my V3.06

subtotal greater than 500 give 50% off

categories not in

so added 500 of product and basket showed discount. Added a product that was from the “not in” category and discount applied to ALL products?? even those in “not in”

strange

Exactly. It's always been like that, I believe. The opposite doesn't work, either. Categories “IN.”

I figured it out…

If you make it a condition of the promotion as suggested, it will then disable the entire promotion when you add one of those products to the cart.

If I was to add a condition including or excluding the clearance products, it would void the entire promotion when you add a clearance product to the cart… Basically ruining it for everyone.

I was able to get it to work by working with the Bonuses.

EXAMPLE: I want to offer 25% off every product when you use a promo code “cyber monday”. However I don't want the discount to be applied to the clearance items (kept inside the clearance category)…

>Cart Promotion

>>Condition:

If all of these conditions are true:

Coupon Code > Equal > Cyber Monday

>>Bonuses:

Discount On All Products In Categories >

At this point I added every category except the “Clearance” category.

Discount > by percentage of the original price > 25.00

I hope that makes sense. I had trouble putting it to words.

Just noticed that you had solved it.

Yes the key is to create specific category bonuses.

I goofed once and the bloody bonus was discounting

items twice when two separate codes were applied…lol

That's quite a nice workaround, I must say. However, if you wanted to cap how much they saved (i.e. Save 25%, but a maximum savings of $30), then how would you cap it?

In this case you should create two promotions and add the following rules:

1.

Add condition - Order subtotal - equal or less - USD 150

Add bonus - Order discount - by percentage of the original price - 25

2.

Add condition - Order subtotal - greater - USD 150

Add bonus - Order discount - by fixed amount - 30

Hope that helps.

Thank you, but I'm not sure that helps. Let's say I wanted to give people 20% off all items in certain categories UP TO $125. But if they spend $150, they still only get 20% off of the $125 (in this case $25 off).

Order subtotal doesn't work in this case as it must be only in specified categories, which is why nathand brought up the “Discount on all products in Categories”
