Upgrade package

Dear CS-Cart users,

We’d like to inform you that upgrade package from 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 will be available on Friday (May, 26). Also, for those, who installed 1.3.3, will be available “service pack” with the latest fixes and improvements.

Thank you for making the upgrade a bit easier, how about templates and such that we have done custom work on, do we have to replace all our templates now as well and redo everything?

If your custom code affects the code that should be upgraded, you need to upgrade these files manually.

Nice one Zeke!

Please raise my invoice when its ready!

Any chance of a list of changed/added templates to make upgrading that extra bit easier for us?

Ok, I’ll add this list.

Fantastic… Good man!

Sounds good. I’ll check out 1.3.3 tomorrow. I think it would be appropriate to realease new updates when the upgrade is complete.

Upgrade kit for 1.3.2 and Service pack for 1.3.3. are available for downloading through the Help Desk now.

Anyone else having troubles upgrading there store ?

Happen larst time to had to just reinstall the full version and add everything again.

Not doing that again we will just have to stick with 1.32

Any news on this list of modified templates? I’m about to upgrade my store!

You can find this list inside upgrade package.

changed_files.lst

new_files.lst

deleted_files.lst

Sorry, I missed that!

Thanks

Why is there not a simple way to upgrade cs-cart? I have to ask, every other “GOOD” php program has a simple upgrade path, cs-cart is like the yellow brick road to hell.

Could you please provide me with examples of these “GOOD” php programs? As CS-Cart is an open source software there’s no way how to predict what modifications customer done before upgrade. I do not think that it’s possible to program some kind of artificial intellect in php

Anyway, any suggestions about improvement of upgrade procedure will be appreciated.

This may be a dumb question, but when I unzipped the upgrade package i get the folders “var” and “include”. The directions say to unzip these to the instal directory, which I did after re-naming my old var and include folders. With the new var and include folders there I can not log into the admin panel like the directions say to do. Yes, I have changed the permissions for the folders/directories, but still I can’t log in. What am I missing? Thanks,

j

Check out Vbulletin upgrade much easier then what this sounds like to upgrade. I am going to attept this upgrade this weekend but I would hate to lose all the work on templates and such that we have done.

Plus things still don’t seem to work as they should, the product groups I asked a question about in the other post and no one answered, there is/was no way to use them, you could create the group but you could not chose that group under the product.

Vortech, I don’t understand your question about product groups. Can you give a link or explain please?

Just checked Vbulletin documentation regarding the upgrade.

  1. It OVERWRITES all scripts with new versions - so all your modifications will be lost.
  2. It DOES NOT upgrade modified templates. Here’s quote from the documentation:

[quote]

If you find that some of your customized templates do have updated default versions, you have three choices. You can either

* Do nothing and hope that your customized templates will still work properly with the new vBulletin version. This is often not a problem, but sometimes a variable may have been renamed or else some other change may have been made that will render your customized template dysfunctional.

It’s not an upgrade - it’s just a fiction :). We could implement upgrade procedure in the same way, but do you really need this?

Here read this.

If you call this an upgrade, I call it a crappy upgrade. It does not work and we did everything the read me said plus some. We have now paid cs-cart to do this for us, and I really don’t think they will be able to make it work with just FTP access ether. Some customer don’t have SSH and we did and still could not make cs-cart work after the upgrade. Before I was speaking before I tried it. Now that I did I can for sure say it does not work and is a usless upgrade!!!

“We could implement upgrade procedure in the same way, but do you really need this?”

Well what do you think, a working upgrade is 100x better then one that does nothing but screw stuff up.
