I created a subdomain on which to install the second storefront. I copied my main store and everything copied over correctly from what I can tell. The products and categories are there in the new store.
Ok, but in cpanel file manager when I open the new store folder “store2”, it only contains an empty folder, cgi-bin. Maybe this is a problem?
In admin panel, I select the new store and try to open the site by clicking the shopping cart icon at the top left. I see that the browser window first shows the correct url, but it quickly redirects to the main site url. Not sure why this happens, since I have no redirects specified it seems odd.
Any ideas on where I might go from here?

More specifically, you probably should set up a .htaccess file in the directory of your second storefront.
I have done this, but it still redirects to my main storefront. I guess I'll contact customer service
Try clearing the cache.

Why do you open the store2 folder? What way do you want to use?
I set it up to use store2.mydomain.com, but I tried both ways and they both redirect to my main store
