Gee guys, give it a rest. You think they are holding off just to piss you off?

I would much prefer that they take their time and do it right than to rush to meet a date. I've done SW development for too long to know better than to short-cut quality. They have come a long way since the early days on producing more stable releases. Let them do their jobs. No matter how good they do, if you run a real production environment and are willing to install a "dot 1 release" on a production site, you are much more of a risk taker than I am.

If you'll notice, Simtech development and the helpdesk are doing their thing in actually responding to some forum threads. This means that they are wrapping up testing before 1) getting barraged in support tickets related to a new release and 2) starting development on the next one.

Is it possible to upgrade from CS-Cart 4.2.1 (RC) to 4.2.2?

The store is not live, but have a valid license. I know there is no 4.2.2 yet, but can i keep working on 4.2.1 and upgrade later?

The reason i ask is i got this message "file integrity check error" in the upgrade center. Don't know what that means.

Very first post of this thread

Note that this is not the final version, and it’s not intended for production use. There will be no update available for this Release Candidate to upgrade it to the final 4.2.1 either.

Guys,

Most probably the release will be next week.
Don't judge us too harshly, we are just trying to make CS-Cart v4.2.1 better!

Take your time.
Why are people in such a rush and then complain about a buggy release?

Thanks for keeping us updated. I prefer a delayed solid release over a speedy buggy release anytime.
Bugs have previously been a significant annoyance with CS-Cart and I really appreciate your commitment to increase CS-Cart quality with releases. (as announced before)
Previously most people would not go live with a version below x.x.5 because it took that long for major bugs to be found and resolved. Quality is important.

Good to know, as the v.4.1.5 has still bugs, reported some of them, but only one saw fixed...so waste of time for us.
You should check if in this version when you hit the save close button after editing pages with comments what happens...
Is still returning error?

TomH, have you posted this bug somewhere? Can you provide me a link/id to this ticket?

Is the full change log going to be released? Two weeks ago you said you were going to release it that Sunday.

How can you release a change log until you're done?

Actually it has already been published: http://www.cs-cart.c...angelog421.html

The point is that the release has already been built and most probably it will not change anymore. At the moment we are testing the Upgrade Center and Store Import functionality. It means that the bugs that have been reported during the last week most probably will not be included in the final release until we set the Severity of this bug to Major. So the changelog can be changed before the official release date, but I do not think it will.

The main idea is to test the release thoroughly in its final state, in order to exclude potential problems caused by new bug fixes (we have such problems in the earlier versions). In order to have a 100% stable release, you should perform regression tests on every fix that is included in the final release (that takes a lot of time). Currently, after the release is built, we check it as follows:
1) back-end tests via Unit tests
2) client-side tests via Webdriver (ex Selenium)
3) manual tests of the release
4) manual tests of Upgrade Center and Store Import
