Translations Gone With Upgrade?

Hi,

To my very very unpleasant surprise, after upgrading from 4.1.4 to 4.1.5, all my translations are gone :(

I’ve spent several hours translating the whole site to my specific needs. I never expexted my translations to be overwritten. Even block names, titles etc etc are set back to standard. Why?

Does anyone know if the translations are backuped somewhere before the upgrade or how I can get my translations back?

Thanx in advance.

Regards, Mirco

If you have a backup you have the translation in /var/langs

Are you sure all translations are gone? It is normal that add ons and menu-transations are reset when you upgrade. I have contacted CS-Cart about this and they will find a fix for this in a upcoming version.

Yep, all gone…

So, from my 100% dutch site I have now a 45% english site, a 45% dutch site and a 10% not used strings like '_file_editor'

I truly cannot believe this. I've done tons of sites but none of them did an overwrite of the language vars…

thanks guys for answering so quick by the way!

Do you have very specific translations for your site? The dutch translation is 99 percent finished here:

http://translate.cs-cart.com/projects/cs-cart/4.1.5

There are a lot of errors in the translations like a mixup of terms ie: profile and account are used together. I get an cs-cart reference at the bottom of the page. Gift certificate section contains a lot of English lines etc etc.

For an out of the box site it could be fine, for an production site it’s not.

Because I never thought of the language files being overwritten, I didn’t make an extra backup for it.

Still in the learning curve ;)

i’ll start over again.

Then you would save yourself a lot of trouble when its time to upgrade again if you make the translation on this site better:

…instead of optimizing your locale file. At the same time you will help out other dutch CS-Cart users.

BTW: Gift Certificate and other add ons needs to be translated locally for now. CS-Cart will find a fix for that soon.

Firstly, please contact CS-Cart support team. As far as I remember, the table with language variables should be backed up during the upgrade process.
