Page Not Found/permission Not Granted Installation

Hi there,

I just purchased Multi Vender today, and 6 hours later of trying everything, I still can’t install it. I’m not sure if it’s because I am using i-page as my host or what?! I have made it up as far as Running the Installation Wizard http://www.example.com/store/install/ which in my case would be http://www.domain.co…or_v4/install/. I’ve tried just /store, /install, and everything else I could think of, even well putting it in different directories.

For a while the window would be white, then it would say permission not granted. So I changed the permissions which I am guessing worked, because now it just says 404-page not found. I’ve even started from the very beginning of the instruction too many times count, thinking maybe it was something I did wrong, or didn’t do. In the end I would end up with similar or same results. >.<

My favourite part is how when you read the installation instructions the first thing they state is that “Multi Vender is really easy to install!”.

……I think I’m going to rip my hair out….

It should be compatible with i-page as it is above basic requirements. So I’m completely lost. Plus

I don’t want to use their customer service either because if I use it and decide I don’t like cs-cart it I won’t get a full refund. > <

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Thanks for reading!

Try to set 755 permissions on the install directory and it's content. This directory will be deleted after the installation is finished.

Thanks but that didn’t help. I found a forum that solved my problem. Which I think everyone should know! Stupid that cs-cart does not tell you this…. and just tells you to enter 777 or 666 for the permissions when it all depend on what version your server is using

Here is some text from the forum that helped me.

I’ll chime in, at the risk of muddying the waters and hijacking the thread. We’re on 2.2.5 (and happy with it), running under cPanel, and still have the var and skins set as 777… do these ‘new’ permissions recommendations apply too all versions and servers? Reason I ask is, they may not, and therefore this may confuse those thinking their cart will work with 755 and 644 when it may not. Clarification once again on permissions would be great, especially from CS, and especially if KB articles are outdated. Thanks for any advice. For any of us.

Hi,

you will have to ask your hosting provider which php handler they use on the server you are on. Below are the chmod permission settings for all php handlers:

DSO - files 666, directories 777

CGI - files 644, directories 755

FastCGI- files 644, directories 755

SuPHP- files 644, directories 755

Here is the full forum if anyone is having problems with installation. This worked for me because my server uses CGI NOT, DSO. So we set the permissions on files to 644, directories to 755.

cs-cart should change their customer service to free! I’m sure they loose a lot of customers due to their lack of service and their refund policy, I even almost gave up and looked to use and another company, even my friend who just got out of school for web design thought this was nuts. Took him 2 hours of trying.

On that note. I paid for a product because I don’t know css or html5 and such. I shouldn’t have to edit or change files once downloaded and uploaded on to my server and if I do, the instructions I’m given should be easily read, not miss understood but most of all, the information should be correct and up to date, rather then wasting 10 hours trying to install it all because the information was wrong!!

Well hope this helps anyone who is having the same problems as I was :)
