Version 4 Shipping Problem

Hi Guys, I'm having an issue with a free shipping method in 4.0.3 i have created the following rule;

Products cost > $75 then free shipping applies.

However, free shipping is available all the time, no matter the cart value. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott.

image attachment;

The first row (range 0-75) should have none-zero value or it means free shipping for 0-75. Then >=75 is also free shipping. That is why free shipping is available all the time.

The problem is the first row is greyed out and cannot be edited. I checked the version 2 of the current live store, and it is actually set the same way;

The knowledge base basically says the same thing; CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation But my free shipping kicks in from zero. Annoying.

That one is for a certain location, always free shipping. But this one is close for your case: CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

I set up free shipping over a certain value as a promotion rather than a shipping method.

Thanks Guys. I'm setting this up on our new V4 test store. It occured to me that I actually paid to have a custom mod done some years ago on our current live 2.2.4 store. Basically, Free Shipping is a seperate method, and its completely hidden until the price threshold is reached.

Using 403.

Nairdacart - how were you able to do this and NOT create a shipping method? As soon as you use the bonus “free shipping” it forces you to choose from a drop box what shipping method you intend to use. Ideally, you are right, the promotion should just have a FREE, and NOT force a shipping method.

Also, following the above article reference, setting up the shipping method does not work because the first line is grayed out, THAT line is what shows up if the threshold of total cart amount is under.

This method does not create a true free shipping method because the first line has to have a value, THAT value is being charged for orders less then your total order amount. But my intention is NOT to offer another shipping method (BELOW the threshold), I want to offer a free shipment for thresholds OVER my amount ONLY.

If this new “free shipping” method is setup, there is nothing that prevents it from showing up on all orders, its going to show either the first line (their example was $25) if its less the the threshold amount or the $0 cost if its more then threshold.

I cant believe this is not a more simple thing and that there is nothing else about it in the forum, its one of the most common promotions in any cart.

Am I missing the mark completely?

I have confirmed the issue discussed above as well. Something has to be broken here.

Following the instructions referenced in the Knowledge Base on how to do this results in a ridiculous list of shipping options for the user, where they'll see the standard shipping methods available to them, plus one called “Custom Shipping Method” for $25, unless they're cart exceeds the $200 threshold, then they'll see the “Custom Shipping Method” for $0.

Seems either one of two approaches needs to be fixed:

  1. The ideal (and most obvious) option is to be able to simply define a Promotion, set the conditions, and select from the Bonus dropdown the value of “Free shipping”, and then select from the existing shipping methods - which simply implies that whatever shipping would normally be charged will be zeroed out.

  2. The second option (less obvious) is, in addition to defining a Promotion similar to the above, to define a new Shipping Method using the Cost Dependencies section of the shipping method (this follows more closely with the Knowledgebase instructions), HOWEVER, the first line (and in fact the ONLY line) that should be in that section is the one that defines the threshold value and the $0 shipping. The user would at least only see this shipping method when they're purchase exceeds the $200 value, and this would also allow us to provide a more useful title to the method, such as “Free shipping on purchases over $200”

    I don't mean to just dogpile on this thread, and I hope my examples help further clarify the issue, and hope for a solution to what seems like an option that so many vendors would be using, unless they've all figured out it doesn't work so they've gone another route.

My shipping is set up to be first line 0.01,shipping cost charged second line > £75.00,shipping 0.00 works fine

John

Hi John. Thanks for the rely. What happens if the cart value is less then $75? Does the $.01 shipping selection show as an option? I don't want the free method to show up at all unless the cart value is over the threshold.

BTW - this is the response from CS Cart:

As far as I understand, you want to set up free shipping method which should be displayed on the checkout page if order total is more than a certain value, but you do not want this shipping method to be displayed on the checkout page if order total is less than a certain value. Unfortunately, there is no way to configure default CS-Cart to work this way. If you want to implement this feature in your CS-Cart installation, I can offer you customization services offered by our affiliate company Simtech Development Ltd (it is our ex-Custom Development department now acting as a separate legal entity). Their website is www.simtechdev.com.

We have an addon that will hide shipping methods by order subtotal/cart value. If you're interested, please feel free to contact us at CS-Cart Templates - CS-Cart Skins - CS-Cart Addons - CS-Cart Mods

Hi CScartrocks - I sent you a message on your sites contact form, I don't see the add-on in your site. Let me know.

Still the same issue as far as I can see. I'm using 4.3.9. Going by their knowledgebase, it still shows the free shipping option.

It's been a while now since this thread was active. Has there been any update or trick to get a free shipping method to show only when a dollar amount has been reached?

Please make sure that the Free shipping option is not selected for your products

http://prntscr.com/du5951

I'm also working with v4.3.9 and not seeing a way to do this without the flat-rate shown in the Knowledge Base ($25) which is unusable.

You are getting completely wrong idea of these instructions

http://kb.cs-cart.com/free-shipping

this setup is when you do not want to have absolutely any shipping fee in checkout, otherwise if you set 0 in checkout you will get error message no shipping options to your location.

only way to set up free shipping for cart >= $ is to setup promotion and give a bonus one of the shipping methods selected.

I have few promotions running, promotion 1 gives cheap option after amount xx and 2 gives expedited shipping option free after amount xxx. Second has higher priority. Additionally coupon code can be enabled.

can also use this in combination

http://docs.cs-cart.com/4.4.x/user_guide/look_and_feel/logos_banners_images/free_shipping_label.html?highlight=free%20shipping

Thanks, Darius. The promotion does accomplish the goal after the "free" shipping methods have been removed.

Hi,

I have shipping setup for Free shipping when the order subtotal is greater than 49.95 under, 1 lb (USPS standard first class) and

Free shipping when order subtotal is greater than 49.95, 1 lb and over (USPS-Priority).

Everything works, but I need the minimum purchase for two user groups (Club Members) to be only 45.95.

I set up two promotions for each of the above shipping methods (under 1 lb and 1 lb +)

The first group conditions is for Any of the two User groups.to be true

The second set of conditions: All must be met: Order subtotal greater than 45.95 and weight is less than 1 lb.

Promotion is the bonus is Free Shipping method less than 1 lb.(usps first class)

I duplicated this promotion, except the weight is 1 lb subtotal over 45.95 and the bonus is Free over 1 lb (usps priority)

The issue is that when a guest gets the same promotion that someone in a user group is suppose to get. The promotion is applied to everyone. Both shipping methods are set to "All". I thought the promotions should only be applied to the two user groups specified in the promotion. I made sure I did not sign in as myself and I removed any user groups from myself when testing.

Is there a bug, or is my logic incorrect.

I have version CS-Cart 4.3.5

Thank you,

Bob
