Addon: Quick Search For Cs-Cart 4

Good day everyone!

Recently we've got several requests on development of a Quick Search modification similar to the add-on that was included in CS-Cart 2.2.x and removed forever.

We've done it and today we announce the release of a ready-to-use Quick search add-on for CS-Cart 4.

The add-on price is $49.

This add-on allows customers to type just a few characters and see the relevant search results immediately in the drop-down list. Also, it adds a possibility to search by a product code.

Moreover, we've tried to keep all settings that were included in a popular Quick Search add-on for CS-Cart 2.2.x.

Please, read more details, documentation and try demo here http://www.alt-team…rch-add-on.html

Feel free to ask any questions.

Best regards, Alt-team

We have a similar addon from another developer, but we do not use it. For example, we have 50 products under the name Toshiba. Quick search shows only a few items. Buyers think that we do not have more products and leaves our site. You have to include in your search link somethink like " Find more like this" or “View all results” Here is the great exemple of search: http://www.knyguklubas.lt/

Definitely needs a “View all results” link, as I find the same problem as Stasys.

This search mod is so much better than the others out there. I've seen a couple of other search mods and they still choke on a search for something like “red Nikon”. The search that the alt-team has created is able to search things that are not in order.

Never really thought about the part of having more than the 10 items that show, but it is an excellent point. I know in the admin you have it so we can set it to show more than 10 items, but that can end up making them to large to quickly give results. Having a “view all” would let customers know that there are more options than the 10 that you might preset the search for.

Probably the only bummer part is the fact that this was included by default until CS-Cart decided to roll with Searchanise. The good part is it looks like Alt-Team listens!

May have to snag this one soon.

Hello guys and thank you for your replies!

Yes, we agree that it's a useful feature. The add-on developer will try to add the View all results link, I will inform you in this thread when it will be added. Thank you!

View More Search Result...

just add

Yes, but it will work for a standard CS-Сart search. Thus, Quick search will show you results in a drop-down, but you click on View more and may see No results found page. We will try to add a correctly working View more.

That is a great search. Love the fact that you can also add products to your cart.

When you do a search and hit enter (as many do) you get no hits. Other than that it looks good.

If you'll get the “View More” added we will buy it.

Hey Flow, I would have to agree that the “add to cart” within the search at knyguklubas.lt is very nice.

@Alt-Team, any idea when you are going to implement the “view all” part in to your mod?

Hello Jim,

The button will be ready tomorrow or next week. Need to test it and done!

Hello!

As promised, we've added the “Show all results” button in a Quick search drop-down list.

The add-on demo is available on this page http://www.alt-team…rch-add-on.html Please, try it.

Feel free to ask any questions.

I love the idea of add ons that actually work but please don't hit me for asking…

…is this better than searchanise ? More to the point…is it more solid ?

Hello termalert,

I think those users who use Searchanise can reply better. I can only say, that Searchanise is a good and functional module but some users say this module slows down their sites and there is some functionality in this add-on for which you should pay. That is why we've decided to offer an alternative - our Quick search add-on that were directly asked by some of our clients. This add-on is easy-to-use, light-weight, one-time payment, we support it, consult about it, fix all noticed bugs free of charge.

Finally got frustrated with my site being slowed down by saying “Searchanise” was loading so I bought one copy of this add on so far to try. After install gmatix jumped us back up to an A,B instead of the B/B or B/C. Now I've just got to figure out how to tweak the settings and hope it is a better experience for customers.

Update on this quick search from alt-team. They have a bug that is pulling in the “short” description and showing too. The search results that drop down also go off the edge of the screen too. I have spent the past couple of days trying to get them to understand where the “short” description bug is and have not been able to get them to understand yet. So you may want to hold off until they first of all understand and then hopefully get it fixed. They said they plan on fixing the part that goes off the edge of the screen, so I would suggest waiting until they fix that portion too.

Here is what the bug that pulls in the short description looks like:

Here is what happens when that short description is too long.

I'm guessing that if they stop pulling in the “SHORT” description that this will be fixed.

Now I'm just hoping I can get them to understand the bugs. Quite honestly, with the time difference that part is frustrating. When they do not seem to understand and then you have to wait another 24 hours to get a reply it is not fun.

BTW, they have offered to fix this via FTP on my site but I do not want them too. Since they have the exact same error on their demo site there is no need for me to set up a new ftp account.

The good part is the site does run faster. Now we've just got to get these little hiccups fixed so we can see how we do.
