We are using individual code (SKU) for each product combination. However the Code that shows on the storefront seems to be the code of the main product. If there is no code on the main product, no code shows on the store front. I think the same is true when a customer places an order.
Has anyone found a way to have the code change when a combination is selected?

Please, make sure that on the product editing page (General tab) you have Inventory - Track with options chosen. And make sure that Inventory checkbox is checked on the editing option page. It is the necessary conditions for displaying a correct code for an option combination.
