GREAT WORK CS!!!

3 new template skins, very cool!

Mine is already installed and working!

Will be installing asap!

Couple of questions… 1) when will an upgrade version be avaliable? 2) when will you be updating the demo store?

Upgrade will be available on next week.

Already updated.

I like the quick development as you have progressed through the RC stages fast yet it doesn’t make any sense to release it without an upgrade path for your existing members. Lame.

So I’ll loose every piece of custom code I have as there isn’t an upgrade available? mm, i’ll wait for next week…

Is there a way to see which files changed and which didn’t?

update:

Forget it, I saw more people requesting this in other topics.

the upgrade won’t upgrade templates you have changed so yes you’ll have to go back and recode templates, updating the software isn’t necessary unless you want the new features.

True, but there are bug fixes too. Also, what would happen if there was a security fix in a new release?

Simon
…updating the software isn’t necessary unless you want the new features.
Yes true, but with this release there are a few new features I need. It took me a lot of hours to do the coding. It means I have to spend another 4-5 precious weeks of recoding. Release 1.3.4 will see the light with features I really need (I love the CS-Cart!), and re-coding begins again…

It’s not a real problem for me as my store wasn’t live anyway but still a pain.

I think it’s good that it comes with lots of skins as standard so anyone who is using these skins won’t have a problem. However, as it’s got such a good template system the majority of users will have modified templates and I feel that it should be made as easy as possible for users to upgrade.

If there are any CODE (PHP) modifications I would expect to have to make changes to the new release for it to work but think that as most users will be changing the templates it doesn’t make sense to start again from scratch. There must be an easier way to upgrade templates.

You could always run some comparision software but probably wouldn’t be as easy as it sounds though.

As you seem to be releasing every couple of months it would make sense to create some sort of upgrade system for the templates, like you have for the software. If releases were less frequent I wouldn’t mind so much.

And that’s exactly NOT what we want CS team to do, less frequent updates and bug fixes. One of the nice things of this team is the quickness and responsiveness.

I don’t see any groups for “Product options” I was told this was in 1.3.3 so you don’t have to make S, M, L or what ever ever time that you could chose from a group already made to save time.

Am i missing this option as I don’t see it.

EDIT: I do see Product features now but how do you use it, I don’t see it under a product.

EDIT 2: Ok I also see Global options I think this is what I was looking for but also see no way to use it.

So I made a list of tables which are added to this release (version 1.3.3). You can choose to do a:

  • new fresh install with all empty tables and import your “old” data into the 1.3.3 database or
  • run the attached SQL code onto your database and get all the new tables, you won’t lose any of your current data.

With second method you just have more control over your data files, it’s more manual.

    cscart_added_tables_v1.3.3.txt

Did I miss something is there not an upgrade from 1.3.2 to 1.3.3?

What about all the changes we have made to templates? I don’t even see an upgrade file ie upgrade.php. I am sure I could upgrade this by hand as the above post says but why should we have to and what did we really pay for bugs because support for sure was not one of them and now ease of upgrade is not one of them ether. Heck I can even find where you tell anyone how to upgrade I guess we need to figure all that out our self.

Boy I sure can pick them… Grrr… I am starting to think I should have looked harder for a better shoping cart.

if 1.3.3 is installed, will all the products be deleted too? if so, can they be backed up? and anyone knw if the shipping settings are working fine?

First, before upgrading, backup your database data. Then install the new CS-Cart version and import all your data. No data should be lost.

Damn I guess if you don’t pay for support and have questions your screwed.

Still no answer on my above post:
