PHP4 Support Ending

Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued.

The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5.

Hi Zardos!

Thanks for all of your post.

They have been very useful in guiding us (newbies) in the CS-cart, PHP world.

I would like to ask you a favour… to please explain how to change form php 4 to php 5.

I am currently running:

cs-cart 1.3.4 sp2

hosting in bluehost.com

PHP version 4.4.6

but know my hosting company supports have servers that run PHP 5.1.6

Do you recommend to upgrade?

If so how can it be done?

Thanks a lot!

Sorry if this is to long or complicated to explain.

Hi ernestor

I think you will need to ask your host about moving you to another server with php 5, CS-Cart seems to be fine with php 5, or maybe this will be automatically taken care of by your host.

Yep mine is working fine with php5 with no issues. Ask your host to change you over if you are still on php4.

Please remember to back you site up though, as i read somewhere php5 is a lot different than previous versions.
