Product Configurator classes HOW TO ?

I’ve looked everywhere in the forums but there seems to be little information regarding this, and I do need some help.

Can someone explain to me how to work with the classes in product configurator.

I’ve the configurator working OK as I need, with all steps and groups populated. Everything is working OK, but now I need the classes to make compatible a few items…but I can figure out how they work.

Im sure its easy, but Im not getting there.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

The configurator classes are very confusing, but I ended up having the developers at CS-Cart help me. Here are their responses. Obviosly you will need to replace my products with yours.

Here is their responses:
On the “Compatibility classes” you can create classes of products, assign them to the groups, add the product to the class, and also set the compatibility of the classes.

For example: you create the “GlassMaterial”(Assign it to the “Material” product group) and “GlassSize”(Assign it to the “Size” product group) classes. Add the “Glass” product to the “GlassMaterial” class and set the “GlassSize” class compatible for it(in the “Compatible classes” section on the “Update class” page).

Add the “10-99 Gallons” and “>200 Gallons” products to the “GlassSize” class and set the “GlassMaterial” class compatible for it(in the “Compatible classes” section on the “Update class” page).

Now if you chose the “Glass” material you can choose only the “10-99 Gallons” and “>200 Gallons” sizes configuration and etc.

After this response I was still confused so they added more:
You need also to do the following:

Create the “AcrilicMaterial”(Assign it to the “Material” product group) and “AcrilicSize”(Assign it to the “Size” product group) classes. Add the “Acrilic” product to the “AcrilicMaterial” class and set the “AcrilicSize” class compatible for it(in the “Compatible classes” section on the “Update class” page).

Add the “100-199 Gallons” products to the “AcrilicSize” class and set the “AcrilicMaterial” class compatible for it(in the “Compatible classes” section on the “Update class” page).

Now if you chose the “Glass” material you can choose only the “10-99 Gallons” and “>200 Gallons” sizes configuration, if you chose the “Acrilic” material you can choose only the “100-199 Gallons” size configuration and etc.

You can see a rough example of the configurator here:

http://dev.cs-cart.com/~nik/saltwatertogo.com/

Click on the tank in the left corner to view the configurator.

You can see that the configurator is different and I can send you the code if you would like. With this modified configurator you can have seperate tabs for each product group instead of one huge page. You can also have a image for each product in the product group for example an image next to the saltwater product.

PM me if you would like more help with this and I will also be happy to send you a link with the login information to view the admin of the test site that CS has setup for me.
