eBay Synchronization add-on Beta testing

Hello!

Today we are pleased to introduce to you our new module to work with eBay—the popular online auction. This module allows you to export goods from your shop to eBay and get a list of purchased items in the form of CS-Cart’s orders.

We are giving it as a beta version for testing, which will run for 60 days. It will be valid through December, 7th. After that you will have to either delete the module or purchase a license.

Prior to the official announcement, you can purchase this module for $79 . After the release it will cost $125. If you use CS-Cart with multiple storefronts, the cost of a licence for each additional storefront is $85, or $59 within the testing period.

This module is built for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor versions 4.0.2+. The adaptation of this module for older versions is not planned.

Setting up the add-on:

The instructions for installing and configuring the add-on can be found in our Knowledge Base.

Sending items to eBay:

First of all, you need to create a template for the export of goods.

A template is a common set of predefined properties for grouped products. With the help of a template you can set different options, such as: the method of payment, delivery, product category.

At the moment the only available delivery type is Flat, which is a fixed, free shipping.

Having created a template, you must go to the list of products and apply the newly created template to one or more products. A template can be set as default by ticking the use as default box.

Notice: If you want to export a single product using a default template, there’s no need to apply it to each product separately. Additionally, you can select multiple items, click the button with the gear pictogram and click Export to eBay.

If the export process is successful, you will receive a notification. If it fails, you will get the list of errors.

Should you export an item that has been exported before, its data will be updated.

Notice: eBay doesn’t allow an item’s data to be updated if it has already been sold out. Hence, should you export an item that has already been sold out using this module, its data won’t be updated.

Receiving orders:

You can receive orders to your shop directly from eBay. You can do so by opening the list of orders in the store, clicking the button with the gear pictogram and then clicking Get ebay orders.

Only the orders that have the status Complete will be imported.

Notice: In order to get the list of sold goods, you must have at least one order in your shop

Hi Imac, does this addon support ebay product variants/options?

Finally, great news!

Hi Imac, does this addon support ebay product variants/options?
The options export is not supported by this add-on, because eBay considers a product with options as several different products.

This could cause a lot of difficulties in synchronization.

If you are going to sell products in ebay we recommend you to organize them the same way eBay does. Separate product for each options combination.

Thanks for the explanations cs-cart team. Sometimes our clients have products with options (ebay supports that) combined with product as option listing type. It will be nice to have this feature to ease the stock synchronization problem. Anyway it's great to see the official release of the ebay addon for cs-cart.

Blah 4 only. Should make it 3 compatible since you rushed through 3 and brought out 4, changing everything in it. I cant afford to even upgrade to v4 since I had all the work done in v3 before it was shoved out the door with the quickness.

I am curious about this add-on but I am curious about one comment you made…

You mean we would only be able to upload items if we offer “free shipping”.

Also, do you have some place we can see some of the settings in the admin?

Hello, clips!

In several days we will add the ability to specify shipping cost directly in a template. We are also developing the functionality of the automatic shipping calculation on the eBay side. Shipping will be calculated according to the product type and dimensions.

Thanks for the reply Nikita.

I did think of a few other questions.

  1. Do you have a space to put in a different “title” than what we put on our website? Ebay allows up to a certain number of characters and we have learned to use as many of those as possible for search purposes.
  2. Will it allow us to schedule when the post to Ebay is made?
  3. Does it allow a different description than what we have on our site? First of all we would not want it to say the exact same thing. Second of all we have additional information on our Ebay post that we do not require on our website.

    Hello!

Regarding the 1 and the 3 questions – I think, that it is a good idea, and we will implement it. Do you think there are any other fields to be specified, like a header and description?

Regarding the 2 question – At the moment only the manual synchronization is possible.

Hello!

We have fixed several bugs, you can download the new version using a link in the first message.

This could potentially become a deal breaker for one of my clients whom currently uses Magento with eBay integrator and has been playing around with CS-Cart recently and likes some of the advantages of CS-Cart over Magento.

However, a couple of sticking points:-

“At the moment the only available delivery type is Flat, which is a fixed, free shipping.”

“In several days we will add the ability to specify shipping cost directly in a template.”

This store uses two courier methods, one via regular courier (items under 30kg) and a freight courier (over 30kg-1000kg), both of which have vastly different costs and implications. A £50 product may only weigh 10kg so costs £7 to send by regular courier. Another £100 product may weigh 40kg, so costs £50 via freight. These costs, where applicable, are charged to the customer (eg. Standard Delivery @ £7 or Freight Delivery £50).

I would therefore require this addon to be able to set the relevant delivery charges on a per product basis - can the addon currently do this, or is it planned at all?

eBay does allow product options - example here - so again, it's possible and definitely a requirement.

Is there going to be a demo of this? I am still on 3.x and will have to pay and update to 4.x, but would like to try out first. Or a video of it or something.

We have added the ability to specify shipping cost in the Flat mode. The Calculate mode is under construction.

The question concerning options will be revised more thoroughly.

We are not able to provide you with the demo version because the unique keys are necessary for this add-on operation. You may install the trial version of CS-Cart 4.0.2 that will be available for 30 days and the trial version of the eBay synchronization add-on that will be active till November 8th, 2013.

I am glad the shipping is being revised, but options are definitely a necessity.

So once the shipping is fixed - and when (because it is a necessity and renders many, many CS-Cart stores a non-starter for using this addon due to this current limitation) options are added - will this addon ever be available as a trial? As I have paid for V2 and subsequent support contracts to see through V3 and now V4 upgrades, will I be able to 'test the waters' with this addon in due course without having to pay $125? If not, I'm out.

Yeah thats not happening. I am still on 3.x, after spending $500 to get the work needed the way I want, and then it was shoved to the side for 4.x. Not spending another $160 to upgrade my license to upgrade to 4.x then another few hundred to fix all the work I had done that 4.x will mess up, just to test something out. You all created the addon, you could easily take the key code out and have a demo running for people to try, or hell even just generate a key for a demo site. You created it. Wont cost you anything to do that =)

The decision about the trial version has not been made yet. You can use a link from the first message to download the full version of the add-on that is updated regularly. It already contains functionality to specify shipping cost. This version will be available till December 8, only starting from this date you will have to buy the add-on or stop using it.

I sell mainly on ebay so this looks promising.

a few questions.

  1. Has anyone got an item on ebay which has been done using this app so we can see what to expect? If it's uploading just plain text and images with no style to the listing then it's going to be pretty bland.

  2. Are the pictures for the item held on the cscart site or uploaded to ebay? The last thing I would want is for my website to go down and the item images disappear from ebay.

  3. It would be nice to have a some screenshots/videos of the ebay listing, orders in the back end, etc.

  4. in the knowledge-base you put simple “export to ebay” but I cant see how it knows what category to put the item in. ie listing a koi fish would go into something like
[]Garden & Patio

    [
    ]>

    []Ponds & Water Features

    [
    ]>

    []Koi & Pond Fish

    [
    ]
ebay calls this category “139930”?

Just a few question to see if this is adequate for my needs.

    Thanks

1,3 You can install this add-on on your store and test its functionality in sandbox.
  5. Images are not uploaded to ebay, they are taken directly from your store
  6. The category to that a product will be exported is set in a template, that is assigned to this product.

So whats the deal? Why are you guys so against adding a video, or putting up pictures of what it looks like? Seems to me, something is being hidden. Several people have asked for them, but you refuse to add either. You need to listen to your customers, instead of telling them to install it and try it.
