CS-Cart not working on iPad and iPhone

Are the people at CS-Cart aware that it is impossible to click through the menus when using an iPhone or iPad. If you have set up your online store with Features in the sidemenu, nothing happens when you click on them. If you have an iPad or iPhone, try it on the demo pages by CS-Cart:

I do not understand why nobody cares about this. I have tried to address the problem in a post earlier, but no feedback.

As more and more people use an iPad to surf the web with, this is a big problem and needs to be fixed quickly.

Hello Onkel_Sid!

One of the CS-Cart omissions is that the default CS-Cart template is not responsive and is not optimized to work on iPhones and iPads. Usually users who care about a better website performance on mobile devices use the in-built Twigmo add-on that is free if you have less than 1000 products.

But we've noticed that now more and more CS-Cart website owners try to make their design responsive (website looks and performs good across different devices) and it is really a good practice though requires some extra investment.

Best regards, Alt-team

Thanks for your feedback.

I dont totally agree with you about using Twigmo for a good website performance. IMO it sucks big time. And i see no reason for using it on an iPad - an iPhone maybe.

The least you can ask for in a modern shopping cart software is that the basic navigation menus work in any browser and on any platform.

Not working on an iPad is a mayor dealbreaker for my customers. This is just embarrassing.

I agree with not really liking Twigmo. It is fine on a phone, but I don't want to use it for iPads. The screens are plenty big enough to handle a real website.

I just posted your post on http://forum.cs-cart.com/tracker/issue-4438-cs-cart-not-working-on-ipad-and-iphone/ so that CS-Cart will hopefully do something about it.

To me, this is pretty huge too. There are tons of people using the iPad and for this not to work, is pretty bad.

Thanks,

Brandon

Not disagreeing, just musing over how everyone expects the templates to be mobile compliant all of a sudden when you have always had to do that yourself on any platform. That's part of being a web designer. I'm thinking being a web designer lately means not actually being a web designer. Maybe I'm just old school.

I didn't even think that cs-cart was addressing mobile as an issue, I make my new sites compliant for all devices. I wouldn't even touch this if I was CS-Cart.

That's fine though just as long as it doesn't get in the way of me being able to optimize it myself, i.e. invasive modules or ridiculous styles to accomplish what can be done normally in a few swipes.

Moving on. If the buttons don't work, re-write them for your needs or hire someone to put up your website for you, it will save you time and money in the future if you don't know how to create compliant websites in the first place then hire a professional or you'll have to do without.

First of all - I'm not a web-designer, and i have no interest in redesigning the template anyhow. Thats why i choose to use CS-Cart in the first place. With the block-editor and the template-editor i can accomplish pretty much what i want.

Templates and redesigning is just a headache when upgrading anyhow, so i try to keep the code changes to a minimum.

Webdesign is neither the issue here. For me its no big problem that CS-Cart don't use responsive design or are optimized for mobile platforms. My problem is that the menus simply don't work !!!

And they should work - regardless of what browser or OS the customer use.

This has nothing to do with the design and 100% about functionality. The problem is with the filters. The filters worked just fine in CS-Cart 3.0.6 and below, and now they don't. So, to me, this would be a bug, not a design issue.

Thanks,

Brandon

Oh, and besides the fact that this used to work great on previous versions, it does work great on my Droid.

Thanks Brandon !

Tried it on a Samsung Galaxy. Works with the default browser and with Chrome. Seems to be just iOS then

What doesn't work on an IPad for you?

All my sites work fine on my iPad. The cscart demo for version 4 works fine on my iPad.

Product filters in the side menu. Try choosing “Brands”, “Display” and such.

Yep, same for me, it is the filters on the left.

Thanks,

Brandon

Yes, I can also see a bug in the side menu. Hope CS-Cart read it and take it into consideration.

Best regards, Alt-team

Hey hey. Here is the reply from CS-Cart:

Also Thanks to Brandon for posting it in the Bug Tracker

This issue has not been fixed on Cs-cart 4.1.x. Just used a Galaxy tablet with chrome and it was impossible to use the top horizontal menu.

Clicking the menu opens the sucategories - ok

Clicking some subcategory closes the submenu and just assumes your clicking on whats underneath.

This makes it impossible to navigate in the website using a android galaxy with chrome.

I have paid to use CS-Cart.

After I found this problem went on trying to navigate on some other free carts and there were no problems with the menus.
