V4 MV Shipping Method

I can’t seem to set a default shipping method for all vendors, seems to require us to create a shipping method for each vendor. Is this the way its supposed to be? That would be alot of work. Thanks

Hi pok,

You do have to setup shipping methods for each vendor. We are setting up our own store and have the following setup for vendors to choose:

  • Manual (Number of items, cost of items or weight-based)
  • Realtime UPS
  • Realtime USPS
  • Realtime FedEx

We have setup accounts for ourselves for the Realtime methods, so instead of having the vendor create an account, we offer up ours and set it up for them.

I am not 100% what you are asking, but the way CS-Cart works for shipping is very confusing. To cut a long story short, you don't have to create a shipping method for each vendor (although you can do that too) - instead, you can create 'global' shipping methods (just leave 'Vendor' as 'None' when setting it up) and then click to edit the Vendor from the Vendor page and go to the Shipping Methods tab.

From there, you will see the global shipping methods available for the vendor and tick the ones you need.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the replies… I figured out that you can just use global shipping method. However, during checkout each vendor is charging its own shipping fees so if you buy from 3 different vendors you will pay the shipping fee 3 times. Is there a way to make one flat rate shipping fee during checkout no matter how many vendors you are buying from? thanks!

This is the thread for me. I'm fighting with this issue for long time.

@Simons - can you help me with setting global shipping options? I'm following your method, but when I log in to the Vendor account, after setting none for all three shipping options in my store, and I can't see any shipping option on vendor's page? Of course I can set a new one, but it works only if I assign specific shipping only to the one vendor. I'm not able to set all shipping as “none”, and asign them to all vendors in store.

Thank you for your help.

Wouldn't supplying a Global realtime method mean all vendors are using the same shipping account for a particular carrier?

This would be a very strange way of having a multi Vendor site setup, The way you want if is if the customer buys 20 different products from different vendors, to charge a single flat shipping rate.

But there will be 20 x shipping costs.

You would soon loose a lot of money.

I would suggest depending on the value of the product being sold and the locations that they may be delivered to that you have your vendors list prices that include shipping and set shipping to free.
