Need some help please. I'm getting the following error on install.
Database error: 1046 : No database selected
Invalid query: SHOW TABLES LIKE 'cscart_%'

The sample database that you're attempting to install in corrupt.
Re-upload the /var/database folder and try again.

Tried re-uploading it, getting the same error.
I'm not installing demo catalogue either (does that make a difference?)

Could it be any of the permissions that i had to change?

config.php - read/write for all (chmod 666 config.php)
[cscart_directory]/skins - read/write/execute for all (chmod 777 .)
[cscart_directory]/images - read/write for all (chmod -R 777 ./images)
[cscart_directory]/var - read/write for all (chmod -R 777 ./var)
where [cscart_directory] - directory on the server where CS-Cart package was unpacked.

what is -R 777? as opposed to just 777?

-Recursive

Make sure that the /var/database and assocaited files are set to 777
otherwise cs-cart can't access it. I've seen people work around this however it's just plain easier

Ok, done, had one error

550 Prohibited file name: .pureftpd-upload.4678f178.15.4cbd.50430aae
(using smartFTP)

and still getting the same error

You will have to delete that file from your webhosting file manager.
That file itself will stop your store from working successfully in most cases

It's a pain in the arse to use internet explorer to upload files, so I suggest you use an application like Flashfxp or SmartFTP (I use flash)

well i re-uploaded everything. took almost an hour. it's kind of working now. but have a new problem

yeah, i must've fixed it before you got to it. Hopefully everything will run as planned (found some files that didnt upload, not sure if its a SmartFTP problem).
