On our store we only offer PayPal Payments Standard (Not Pro as we are in Canada). This of course redirects the customer to the PayPal payment page where they enter their payment info. Well in the few months we've been open we've noted a HUGE amount of "Open" orders; almost around 50%.

We tried everything to inform customs of the redirection to the PayPal page and still no conversion improvement. Then a customer called us the other day and told us what the problem was. If you use PayPal Payments Standard try the following and you'll see what I mean:

1. Pick a product from your store and select 5x for quantity.
2. Note the total price in your cart and complete the checkout process.
3. Now you should be on the PayPal payments page; note now that PayPal has taken the quantity (5x) and then multiplied this by the cart total! This of course is what was causing our customers to leave immediately.
4. So for example if you selected 5x an item that cost $10 your cart total would be $50 but your PayPal Payment page would show $250 (5x $50).

We contacted CS-Cart and they provided us with a fix; see attached. These are their instructions:

"In order to fix the bug with PayPal you need to replace the "/payments/cc_processors/paypal.php" file with this one."

They also said they would not release a public patch and that the community would have to wait until version 1.3.5 for this fix. This is why I wanted to release it to you guys now!

CS-Cart stated that PayPal changed a variable in their code which is what caused this issue so it's strange that you are not having this issue. ;)

Maya, what version of CS-Cart are you using?
I brought this to the attention of cs-cart a few months ago.
I'm just concerned that it may effect my 1.3.4 Sp3 installations
I've moved on from CS-Cart to WooC******** - If you need anything I can be of little help.

Well I don't have this problem, but the patch does two things..... (Compared to the file in my version)

1. It seems to fix a problem with surcharges on Paypal.

2. It changes the call to function fn_order_placement_routines() to add a second argument. But there is no update supplied for the file that defines fn_order_placement_routines() "fn_cart.php", it still has a single argument (on my version). This may or may not be a problem, but it certainly wont fix anything.

Thanks Maya,

I did mention this prior in the bug report. I can't recall if I got a response however.

You're all very welcome! I thought everyone should have access to this file as CS-Cart stated they were not going to post an official patch. Also we're all loosing sales (money) until we apply this patch.

Again we had about a 50% leave/cancel rate when they arrived at the PayPal payment page. We lost over $4000 in sales due to this bug! At least now we can all stop the "leakage" :-)

Just a note that this patch does not include the fix for this bug:

http://forum.cs-cart...iew&vbug_id=196

So you'll have to re-fix if neccessary.

Strange, now using 1.3.4sp3, PayPal standard, and cannot duplicate the problem?

Thanks for the re-post, Jesse.
