I would like to offer gift certificates as products and not with the “Do-It-Yourself” tool on CS-CART.
Meaning - the user will see a $10 Gift certificate product (with an image of a $10 gift card or something) and then click add to cart, go through checkout and will get the gift certificate or be able to send it to a recipient.
Any idea how to do it?
Admin>addons>gift certificates.
Then in store front see gift certificates link in footer or top menu for this page

Thanks John. However this is not what I had in mind. I would like it to be a pre determined value gift certificate. The only field I want the customer to fill is the email of the recipient.
You could create your own products and call them gift certs, add an image and “required” email field and add options with modifiers to equal how much you want them to be.
This way you would meail the actual person who the gift is for.
Or you could leave the email field blank and then your actual purchaser would get the email anyways form you when you activate the cert.

That's a good idea.
Only problem I have now is how to generate a gift certificate automatically after checkout.
I know that CSCART has the option to generate a gift certificate as a promotion, but for this I need to manually provide the gift certificate number.
Any ideas?

Will you have to add the certificate as a product first?
