Do you plan a beta version of Professional?

Very nice!

So it looks like CS-CART have acknowledged the huge MySQL bottleneck?

The test on V2 or V4 are based on 30 people, and V3 is on 20 people?

Thats a huge difference!! A major issue with all V3 websites across the board!!!

Also it wont install, goes to a process screen after filling out the database details, and then stops… any ideas?

CS-Cart 4 Beta is the first release to conform to the new edition policy.

That is, there are just 2 editions, Ultimate and Multi-Vendor.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate is available in Free mode to replace the discontinued CS-Cart Community Edition.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate with a single storefront is an extendible replacement for CS-Cart Professional.

Dear djstevie84,

There were some problems with product blocks cache in v3, but not with MySQL.

Are there any errors regarding the installation process? Please provide us with yout hosting tech specification.

Congratulations! Am very excited to see this version.

Now let's make this the best cs-cart ever by focusing on fixing all annoyances and optimizing things like checkout, so we can actually start selling more instead of having to focus on technical stuff and upgrading!

So what do you think the upgrade path will be to the paid version of Ultimate 4 from Professional 3.x? Would there be any merit in upgrading to Ultimate now, in preparation for perhaps a smoother upgrade to Ultimate 4 in the future?

Kingsley,

If I remember correctly, all of that stuff was discussed in the comments of Edition Changes | eCommerce Blog on Running an Online Marketplace I didn't read through it this morning, but I think it will answer what you want.

Thanks,

Brandon

Hi,

Dedicated server, cpanel setup, installing in a sub folder for testing,

All permissions set correctly,

setting install folder to 777 gives 500 Internal Server Error

When set to 755 it loads correctly, but the installer doesnt go past the install button,

A progress bar appears on screen, but only gets to 20% an reverts back to the install screen with all details filled out,

Tried chrome and firefox on Mac, same error

CS-CART really needs a guide for stores with high amount of users online at one time, mysql seems to be a big bottle neck, were' currently looking at AWS services to create multiple read / write master and slave servers to scale, MYSQL look ups are huge. ( we could have 2,000 - 5,000 online at any one time )

A guide for tweaking mysql, or high load websites is a must, we love CS but may have to change platform if the core cant handle it

Also within your config.local.php file change your directory permissions to 755 and your files to 644, then re-attempt your install process.

I hate adding, editing, managing products (I do it on every day basis) with 3x and 4x. I just love how everything is color coded, space saving, minimalistic in 2x. It was designed to increase speed of work not looks… Since when admins are in to looks :D

The new features list and improvements made to 4.0 are quite impressive, anxious to get this installed, nice work CS-Cart staff! 8)

So i have to pay to upgrade my license to ultimate edition, to use v4 version ?

From blog
Your Professional licenses will be exchanged to the same number of the new unite edition licenses for free. If you currently have 2 separate CS-Cart installations, you will have the same 2 separate installations of the new edition as well. Nothing will be changed for you except the ability to add additional storefronts (at a fee) in each of your CS-Cart Ultimate installations.
No… Ultimate setup with a “single store” is the replacement for the Professional version

You surely do not want to upgrade to a “Beta” release, right? :)

They will most likely provide the store updater (if they haven’t already) when it is officially released.
