How to make content pages open in pop-up window

Does any one know how the pop-up window works? I want a content page, like “about us” to open in a pop-up window.



In admin create content page there is a check box for : Show this page in a popup window:



But if its checked, and I then use a link to that page ID, it does not open in a pop-up.



I read only one other post about this but no solution was at hand and CS-carts answer was cryptic, I could not tell what to do.

Thank you for your message.



If you select the Show this page in a pop-up window check box for a page, you need to have a block with the page links, and when you click on a link of some page, it will open in a pop-up window. More information about how to create a block you can find in our Knowledge base article:

You should select the Pages content type when creating the block. Please check it.

This explanation on how to create a popup is just as bad as the KB. How about a step-by-step on how to do this? It would be very helpful for us.

I am sorry to hear that you found my instructions unclear. Here are detailed instructions on how to create a block with page links:[list=1]

[]In the CS-Cart administration panel, go to Design > Blocks.

[]Click the + button in the necessary Grid and click on the Add block link. Open the Create New Block tab and click Pages block type button.

[]In the opened window, enter the block name, select the Text links template in the Template select box.

[]Open the Content tab and select the desired filling type in the Filling select box.

[*]Click the Create button.

After this you should go to Website > Content in your CS-Cart admin panel and click on the name of the necessary page. On the opened page, enable the Show this page in a popup window select box and click the Save button. After this, if you click on the link of some page in the created block in the storefront, it will open in a pop-up window. Please check it.



As regards our Knowledge base, I would like to inform you that we are going to add more articles in the future and improve the existing ones soon. If you have any suggestions on how we can make our Knowledge base better, I would be glad to hear them.

@moderator Thanks! Way clearer and that would be great for the KB :)



We took a different route since we needed a popup form yesterday. Messed with this for a few hours more and used the URL popup feature to create a popup jpeg form for wearluck.com - This website is for sale! - wearluck Resources and Information. and the test was the category banner. Once that was done, just started disabling blocks until we got a clean form. Now I can go back and use your method.



@moderator. One last question. On the same site, we can’t get the news links to work! If you click the blogs tab, which displays the news, and you click a news link, nothing :( Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you what exactly causes this issue in your store. The problem requires examination on your server. Please contact us via Customer Help Desk and provide temporary access to your server by clicking on the Add record link on the Access information page of your Help Desk account so that we could examine the issue.

Moderator, thank you for the tutorials.



I am using CS-Cart 4.1.4 Multistore version. I tried to implement your tutorial and it did work well. The only thing is the popup size was very big. Is there any ways to control the popup window size?

Hi,





I had some requirement of converting “Advanced Search” option in cs cart to come in a pop-up.



I was looking for any hint or tutorials that I can find for this development.



Is there any possibility to change the “Advanced Search” option in categories page to show as pop-up when I click the Advanced Search button ?



If its possible, can anyone just guide me or give me a hint to try that thing out?

The instruction you quoted was written in 2013 and relates to CS-Cart 3.x.x. Block manager is located on the Design > Layouts page in CS-Cart 4.x.x. However, please note that Show this page in a popup window page option, which is mentioned in the answer, was removed starting from CS-Cart 4.3.1 version.

Since this option was working only for one template (Text links) and was not very popular, it was decided to remove it when the "News and e-mails" add-on was replaced with the "Blog" and "Newsletters" add-ons.
