Hi all
I am adding new products to my website and have used the very helpful standard product features/options (dispatch=product_options.manage).
But I wonder - is it possible to have starting option or text in the drop down which is not possible to choose?
Like “please select…” - it is written by default in the drop down, but (if selection if mandatory) it can not be chosen when adding the product to the shopping cart.
I need this to sure that the costumer actively makes a selection and don't, by mistake, has the default selection.

I add an option called “select” at the top and if the customer leaves this in then we call them.
There is a way that is correct and that is to have your options in the product details page in admin marked as sequential, and in the options have them as must be chosen

No, not forbidden combinations,just select sequential in the details page and in the options set them as required
