Hi,

I read all post about how to upgrade but I have an alternative way to do it so I want to ask if this could be ok.
  • First I will create a subdomain like new.mynamesite.com and there I will install a copy of the currente cs-cart (version n° 2) currently running in the www.mynamesite.com.
  • Then I will perform the upgrade in the subdomain.
  • Finally after making all the changes I need I will change the DNS to the new target new.mynamesite.com so I won't need to move the upgraded site by changing the DNS values.

Would be ok?

Thanks in advance!

sounds like you're willing to have your store down for a while as you make your adjustments.
Would suggest that when you create your sub-domain, that you use a different document root than your main store (i.e. don't make it a sub-directory of your store). For example, where your normal store would be in publlic_html, your new store would be in new_html instead and your v3.mystore.com would use 'new_html' as the document root. Then, when you're done your development work you could simply go into cpanel and change the document roots for the domains. Then you don't have to worry about things like DNS propagation time, etc.
