CS-Cart 3.0.3 Released

Hello everybody!

We are happy to announce another minor CS-Cart version.

CS-Cart 3.0.3 is a maintenance release, it includes bug fixes and improvements introduced since the last minor release.

Among the most important is that the Store Import add-on now supports database import from CS-Cart Community 2.2.4-2.2.5 to Ultimate 3.0.3 and from CS-Cart Professional 3.0.3 to Ultimate 3.0.3. The database is imported in both cases to a separate storefront.

CS-Cart 3.0.3 is the 1st version without Community edition included. CS-Cart Community edition discontinuation is the 1st step in a program of our product line simplification. You can find more information on this subject in our blog.

CS-Cart Russian Build has also received some new features:
[]Unisender integration

[
]Yandex.Market and Yandex.Metrica integration

[]Vse V Kredit integration

[
]Kupi V Kredit integration
You can find the full changelog on our site for both regular and Russian builds.

We are keen to get your feedback. Use can contact us via Twitter, Facebook and leave comments in the blog. If you happen to find a bug, do not hesitate to leave a report in our Bug tracker.

UPD: As usually, the upgrades should be available for all users in their admin areas in the course of 48 hours.

Well

its a good change the one with the licences as it simplifies the sales procedure to our future customers.

And upgrade from Free to Ultimate is also another nice addition that will make things easier.

Now for the fixes… I know its new but to be honest I havent yet tried to update any shop from 3.0.1 as I am afraid of the skin changes that might happen…

Any thoughts on that?

Fotis

I have just recently upgraded from 2.2.5 Prof to 3.0.2 and I have noticed alot of bugs.

I just noticed the new software version is available . My question is will an update be available soon for me ?

Changes can be fun…or they can cause more change. Either way, flying by the seat of your pants can be interesting some times.

So the ending of the “community edition” sort of makes sense and the new model seems like it works easier for me. I'm no so sure that I fully understand, but I am a little surprised that you would would leave some people at the buggy 3.0.2 version. I sure am glad I didn't waste too much time doing conversions of the CE sites over to 3!

The merge of CS-Cart “Professional” in to “Ultimate” leaves me with mixed feelings. I know I don't know any of the real details, but this just seems like a direction that scares me. I know we'll have to wait to see the details. I guess if all else fails we can stick with 2.2.5 for as long as possible and if we don't like the new cancelling of the “Pro” version we can look at alternatives then.

I am also wondering how this “pro to ultimate” merge works for those of us who have had “Professional” license(s) that are grandfathered in from the early days of CS-Cart.

I'm trying to import databases from 2.2.5 to 3.0.3 and get “Import from this version is not supported”.

Any ideas?

Any idea when this update will be available for us to update?

Axeoma,

Are you using the import Add-on? You just can't import databases.

I can't seem to download the newest release from the file area… anyone else been able to?

I can see the file in my file area, but my store is not showing an upgrade notification within my store.

But can you actually download them? When I try and download the TGZ I get a blank white page and when I download the ZIP I get a 0kb file.

.tgz downloaded fine for me this morning.

From a developer perspective, I'm concerned with the dropping of the Pro Edition.

As far as I've been able to tell, there is no way to determine whether a store within an ultimate configuration is licensed to use a particular addon or not. There are ways to provide separate settings, but the number of “licensed stores” seems to be imposed/managed by the core software only and no provision has been made for addon developers to manage/track licensed sites within an ultimate configuration.

This forces us to price as if we were selling an unlimited number of domain licenses.

Axeoma,

Are you using the import Add-on? You just can't import databases.

This is exactly what I use and get this error.

Gooday,

I got one PRO license with Upgrades expired and one with Lifetime upgrade.

Where do I go, what do I do how do I prepare myself and for what? :)

Currently I run 2 stores on two separate hosting. Had some problems in past and having many stores on same hosting, same db does not attracts me much. If one go down all will. I suppose for customers who do not want to merge all stores in to one place cs-cart will not have anything to offer?

I think this is a good idea.

From the press release It looks like it will work like this

  1. Install CS-Cart - You can use it in free mode
  2. Add 1 licence key for 1 site - Works like Professional
  3. Add another licence key for extra sites - Works like ultimate.

I wonder if I can build cheap rapid deploy cs-cart hosting based on this architecture

Currently there is no import from CS-Cart 2.2.5 to CS-Cart 3.0.3 (within Professional edition) available. This is our mistake and we'd like to sincerely apologize to all our clients for it.

We will publish the fixed version of Store Import add-on shortly.

Thank you.

will my skin still work if i upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 ?

Regarding dropping of Pro.

While @kogi's description sounds simple from a customer perspective, the same is not true from an addon developer perspective.

There is a big difference between Pro and Ultimate and how things are controlled and managed.

There is no way for an addon developer (that I'm currently aware of) to identify how many stores are in an ultimate configuration (or to be aware of when that changes). Hence pricing either needs to reflect the worst case (highest number of stores) or we give away the farm for an ultimate configuration. When cs-cart provides facilities for an addon developer to manage the licensing of 1-N stores in an ultimate configuration, this might be doable. But right now, it seems like a crap-shoot.

Additionally, developing an addon to work correctly in an ultimate environment is a much different task/process than in Pro. So essentially, eliminating pro obsoletes any addons that may have been developed for that Edition which has been in place for 3+ years.

If you want to start changing the product offering, that should have been done at the major release point. I.e. when V3 was introduced. Given that it wasn't, a V4 should be launched that utilizes the new scheme leaving V3 defined as it was promoted and released as.

okay i just updatet a test server and then my main store the skin still works great :-) plus my site sems faster thing ill test it on gtmetrix
