Do people use Social Login to your site (if you have it active)

I am very curious in terms of marketing for several stuff and I would like to have a seperate section in cs-cart forum for that (marketing related posts and how stuff works for you) in order to share important experiences between cs-cart owners.

Anyway, for now General Questions will do and here is my questions for social login:

  • Do people use Social Login to your site (if you have it active)?

  • If yes did you have any orders at all ? (do they buy?)

  • Did you have any kind of problems?

If you could mention your kind of store and country would be very useful for all of us.

I haven't got any experience with social login till now.

Thanks for any info you will be sharing.

I tried janrain, but I didn't like it too much. It felt bloated and I got many login errors and stuff, and questions from people who had problems using it. The last thing I need is people with registration or login errors, so I got rid of it.

I did use cscart rocks facebook plugin which worked great, but I removed it because I felt the blue facebook button was ruining my shops design. I might integrate it in the registration & login page again soon - honestly I forgot about it!

I also know many people have privacy issues with stuff like this, and don't think it's that important. If people want to order with you, they will.

Thank you Flow,

I wouldn’t expect any other to answer so soon :)

I agree with the looks of it. Whenever I install anything similar I always customize it. (icons, colors of the icons perhaps etc)

Privacy is another important issue to take in consideration. Very delicate…

I know that when I go to a site that says I can log in using my FB or Twitter account it kind of throws up a red flag to me. I see no need whatsoever to be sharing that information with 3rd party sites. With that, we have never tried to use any of the addons to allow customers to sign in to our sites. I guess there may be some who want to, but it really just does not seem like a logical link.

I do think it's super handy actually, sometimes. But I already have amazon checkout which means users don't even have to register if they are in a hurry.

Concerning the look: you can't change facebook buttons!

Well as far as I know, changing the buttons is not very hard.

You just create the same class in your css, you put your color, icons etc and always !important at the end.

It overrides the css from facebook and is ok.

Our users don't seem to get the points when login with facebook or other social login so I stop using it. I have the facebook login addon from cscartrock CS-Cart Facebook Connect and Share Order on Facebook Addon and can't use it until the point system is customize to make it work with it.

Hi Dear, here is the demo link:

Social Networking and Shopping does not mix in my opinion.

People are looking for trust from a shopping site and so expect more security then clicking a button.

That may change as more people shop from their phone.

I sorta agree, I just can’t find the logic in marketing our products to a bunch of children hanging out on Facebook with too much spare time on their hands and no income producing jobs enabling them to have the ability to actually purchase anything even if they choose to do so…! There is a reason Facebook’s attempt at attracting corporate marketing revenue is flopping… :-)

General Motors recently discovered that the odds of selling new automobiles to high school kids hanging out on Facebook & smoking dope are unacceptably low and not a good return on their advertising dollars.

Struck! Now you're talking!

Yeah, I sometimes believe I have “issues” ! :-)

Then you are not alone…! Whilst I ‘accept’ the ‘marketing power’ of $ocial Networking, I’m actually perversely sick of it! FB this, TWTR that, blah blah blah…

You see - issues abound!
