Point of Sale (POS)

I have a customer who's using a different POS with a swipe machine at a physical book store. I want to switch them to CS-Cart to take payments both online and in the store. Has anyone used CS-Cart as a POS system? Any way to integrate with a credit card swipe machine?

Flow has done some work in this area. There's a reasonable thread on it in the forum. Unfortunately, 'POS' is too short to be used as a search term.

I doubt you will get integration with the swipe machine. Usually these are fairly secure and provided by a Merchant Account Provider for their exclusive use. Might want to review the T&C's of the Merchant Provider or contact them to see if they have a card reader that can be used to send data over a network (programmable).

Who (or what) is Flow? Any suggestions for finding the thread?

Flow is a frequent poster.

You could use a virtual terminal, something like PC Charge or x-charge to do the capture at the “POS” and have a payment type in CS-Cart for it (like “Paid in store” or “Paid in store - CC”. It would be a separate application on the store computer but it's not difficult to implement. Check with their current CC processor to see if they have a virtual terminal available.

.

a pos must include something like amount tendered right?"

Did this ever go anywhere? We use CS Cart and are going to be opening a retail store soon. I would like a simple interface that would use the CS Cart back end to process orders. Here is my simple wish list. 1. Use the CS Cart database and have all orders show in the admin home page. 2. Use the CS cart credit card processing. 3. Print a simple receipt from a USB thermal receipt printer. 4. Enter product in a table format with a USB bar code scanner. 5. Link orders to a guest account or pull up a existing user from the CS Cart database. Doesn't seem that complicated but I'd rather not have to write it all from scratch if someone already has all or part of it.

The issue with using CSC for POS is that CSC has almost no inventory and financial administration functions and lacks various essential POS functions like barcode scanning, cash exchanges and hardware integration. You will need to integrate it with POS software. The good news is that CSC4 has an API so it should be easier to connect CSC with a POS.

The whole reason I want to integrate is to use CS Cart's inventory. I use quickbooks for accounting. Inventory, unlike accounting needs to be in real time.

Maybe this is old I think that is a good Idea to make this post.

There is a new third party windows application that Print any new order to Thermal Printer. After that it change the status of the order.

I have spent many hours looking into this and there is no simple solution, in the end I have signed up with Linnworks as this can handle stock control, but can only connect to csc via api, they have no intention to develop this any further due to csc being a moving target. So I have no alternative but to move one of my websites over to Magento whereby Linnworks will fully connect up to and will also save me having to pay and additional £100 per month just to connect up to csc via API.

Ok, I may have to look around as today magento has confirmed that it is closing 10,000 of their websites, it is closing down Magento Go…

I’m pleased that I have found out about this now but I feel sorry for the 10,000 people that have to move their websites… :(

I suppose BigCommerce will be hoping on claiming most of them.

The api should not be a moving target (hence an api). However, you may not get things that you need via the api that you need for your integration.

Maybe you could be more specific about what you can't do via the api as it relates to your integration?

Magento & Bigcommerce can both be connected to Linnworks, so all orders are ported into Linnworks and can be dealt with in there, ie it can be marked as dispatched in Linnworks and an email is sent with full UK Royal Mail tracking unlike CSC…

Linnworks can be used to upload items to eBay, Amazon, Magento & Bigcommerce by creating the listing in there, but it will not upload it to CSC

I have spoken to Linnworks regarding the API but this only tracks & updates stock levels at an additional cost of £100 per month for this privilege, whereby if I could have used Magento it would not have cost any more but would have saved me a lot of time…

Hello, Friends!

We are glad to launch the POS system for your CS-Cart/Multivendor Store. Here is the reference link for more details - https://store.webkul.com/CS-Cart-Point-Of-Sale-System-POS.html

Just have a look & share your valuable views.

Thank You!

We've built several custom CSCart POS systems. Most recently a vitamin store that uses CSCart with a barcode scanner and credit card swipe.

Webkul's new system looks interesting. I couldn't get the demo to display .. it just opens a new tab with the same page. Am I missing something? (It's early in the day still).
