Is there a way to get an email notification sent to an admin of the store anytime a person registers, i.e. creates an account.

Please try the following: go to Settings → General → Users/cart and tick “Administrator must activate new user accounts” checkbox.

Alt, that would require the admin to activate each user… I think he just wants to get an email to let him know when someone new signs up
