Add a "filter by"

I am trying to add some filters for products. It is asking me “filter by” and it'll let me choose color, free shipping, etc. How do I add to this list? I don't sell clothing, so color doesn't help me. How can I create filters here?

I can't seem to find this anywhere in the manual.

first, create some features, then create filters

When I go to product features and filters, I see how to create my own. BUT where is FREE SHIPPING and COLORS coming from? Where is that list for me to edit? When I go to look at my feature list, I don't see that as an option.

You need to add them as features first and then you can add them as filters. Currently they are a property of a product (free shipping) or an option (colors) but you would need to make them a feature manually as well.
