Automatically fill related products

I found it very difficult to select all of the cross-selling products for each of my 3000 products.

Are there better “automatic” ways to do this like this mod in Magento? http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/aheadworks/extension/2450/automatic-related-products

The first mod seems good, but it still requires manual selection of all products. Is there a way to pull other products from same category automatically?

Yes, it would be great to automatically generate/select the analog products from the same category…

Or to pull from name as well.
