WebsiteCM - Introducing Ourselves

My name is Jon Peters, President/CEO of WebsiteCM.com. Many of you will know us as a leading provider of X-Cart modifications and customizations.

We will soon be moving into additional markets and will be providing pre-built cs-cart mods (allowing you professional coding without the cost of custom development), as well as support and custom coding when needed. We will be working in conjunction with CS-Cart to best serve you.

We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and to ask you what modifications and improvements you would like to see as 3rd party modules to CS-Cart.

We look forward to working with you to increase your sales and reduce your costs.

Welcome aboard dude

'Bout Time! Glad to see you on board!

I would like to see clean urls, like: domain.com/category/product-name-here or something similar. Not sure if this would be an add-on or whether it would need to be in the core, but it would be nice.

Actually, I guess a version of your CDSEO LINKS for cs-cart would be great!

Welcome Welcome

Where is funkydunk?

So where are the mods??? Cant wait!

CS has alot of what xcrap was missing, the majority of xcrap mods are already or will be integrated into the next version of CS making existing xcrap mods obsolete, which is the one of the main reasons of switching to CS.

Hi Jon! Nice to see you here!

Hi Andrea, did not know you had made your way here too.

Hope to see your killer designs on CS Cart too soon

I understand that CS-Cart integrates a lot of features by default, but there will be items that if added would only bloat the code (as we’ve seen with x-cart) and as such CS-Cart will not be integrating them.

We’d like to know what such features users would like and we will ask CS-Cart if it is something they would integrate, if not, we will create it.

CDSEO Links have been added to our list.

Oops, forgot to login. That was me above…

Some ideas for mods that I believe people would be interested in…

*Forum Integration - With PHPBB, VB etc

*Music Samples (good for me anyway) - Ability to create a tracklist for a product (info like track name, number, length etc) and also upload a clip which would be played with a flash button or something similar.

*Multiple templates (like your current X one)

*Hidden categories (like your current X one)

Thats all I can think of at the moment. I’m still very new to CS so I have not yet fully explored it’s features etc. However, most of the mods I’d be interested in would be specific to my own needs and probably not the sort of thing everyone would be interested in.

Flash Products - the ability to upload .swf for the product image

How about a Returns Module, for customers to request RMA numbers? Not sure if this in the pipeline to be included with CS-Cart as default.

As a newegg.com rat, Ive sent CS screenshots of their RMA, which is by FAR the best i have ever used…so easy to use and return items.

we will se if they do anything with it.

It needs to be clearly defined that Returns, Special Offers, Comparison and Advanced Order Managment type mods are mods that need to be done by CS and NOT an outside vendor and to keep these differences seperated. To be honest their should’nt even be the need for outside mods, it only developed at Xcrap because they refused to implement features that were desperately needed and should have been included and then things spiraled out of control with Xcrap eventually implementing mods that people had already bought from 3rd parties, I’ve got burned myself and it needs to be avoided in CS.

This should’nt be a mod, this should be how CS’s HTML Catalog generates links which is close to already generating a very good job, getting rid of the _p_1.html link and just using the name of the catagories, sub-cats and product names should work without duplicating .html pages. In edition we could have the option of defining the html links ourselves by adding a HTML Link: input field in the catagories and products admin panels that would have an error check if duplicating links exist within the store. If requested I could provide CS with images how this could be done.

We don’t need a mod, the HTML Catalog already exists, we just need it refined.

I strongly disagree with this… As mentioned here before, some stores have different needs that not everybody wants. Why weigh the software down with stuff that not everyone needs.

Now, when you purchase a cart you can get it modified to your own specifications, for those needs that not everybody has. However, you may find that while not everybody nees a feature by default there are a good few people who have the need for it, and thats where “pre-made” mods come into play.

I would not go for any cart that doesn’t have much of a mod-community, I fell into that trap before.

I agree that Returns, Special Offers, Comparison and Advanced Order Managment type mods should be done by the manufacturer, or even better, built in as standard.

Hi recedo, that’s what I ment by saying their should’nt be a need for outside mods, referring to mods that should be coded by CS and not an outside vendor and yes I agree the code does’nt need to be bloated with stuff we don’t need or use but again its also why you can turn modules on/off so the extra code is’nt slowing your cart down.
