The top menu buttons, like ‘myaccount’,‘home’,‘view cart’ etc needs to be placed in a block.
Is this possible?
Or should i just make manual links to them>?

yes, it would be possible:
Admin panel → Design → Blocks —> Add block —> Block content: HTML —> Make links to the desired pages…
Save and place the new block whereever your want it to appear.

In order to add top menu links to the block, you need to know the URL of the necessary menu item and add necessary links to your custom block manually.
