Can we assign differrent tax rates to each USA state, or a states many counties, based on the shipping address? The demo is not very clear on this issue, if anything the demo indicates this may not be possible.

Dear Fred,



Yes, CS-Cart allows to assign tax rates to each USA state. This can be done through Adminstrator’s back-end in a few steps:


  • Click on “Manage destinations” link in “LOCATIONS” sidebox on the left. On “Destinations” page you need to define destination zones for each state that will be used in taxes calculations.


  • Then open “Taxes” page (“Manage taxes” link is “SHIPPINGS/TAXES” sidebox) and click on “Edit” button next to corresponding tax. The page with tax properties will be open. Select the state you wish add rate to at “Show rate for destination” drop down list (the page will be reloaded). Enter rate value and click on “Add” button. Repeat defining rates steps for each state. Now you can assign this tax with defined rates for appropriate products.
