Someone should make a search products add-on, with “did you mean?” To improve the existing search facility which is crap.

Agreed, the current search is crap. They should look into Solr from Apache and see if it could be integrated into the cart. It supports everything you can think of for search including spelling suggestions, “more like this”, auto suggest, etc.
