Vendor Permissions?

Hi.

I’ve installed a trial of the multi-vendor version of CS-Cart. It seems to me that Vendors have full Admin access. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong.

Is this really just a multi-user shopping cart, a single shop but with multiple logins?

Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve

My understanding is that you need to set the privileges under the tab USERS > USER GROUPs > ADMINISTRATOR (click the privileges link). I have not fully tested yet, but I think that when you make a vendor an administrator it follows these settings. The main admin account always has full priviledges.

Perhaps someone else hs more insight. Cheers

On the basis of the testing I have carried out, this is entirely correct. I have had no issues with assigned Privileges not being correctly applied to the User.

It’s an interesting thought that the Admin account Privileges would be applied to new Admin Users - haven’t tested - but this would be be useful providing it doesn’t impact the main Admin account, as you suggest.

Otherwise, I don’t believe there is a way to set Vendor Admin accounts to a default User Group, but this would be a worthwhile addition to the system as there is a potential window shortly after creation in which a new Admin may have full Admin access. The automatic email seems to be sent immediately on creation of the account. The site Admin has to remember to assign the User Group…and quickly!

Of course, I may be missing something…?

Thanks.

I’m still not sure if CS is suitable. I’m currently running phpprobid with stores and buy now only, no auctions. I’m not really happy with PPB and I was looking for some more suitable software.

At present, it looks to me as if CS MV is for a single store with multiple administrators, possibly with different priviledges. I need something more like a mall with multiple shops. Not unlike an eBay where buyers and sellers are quite seperate from Admin and have no admin priviledges, and the sellers are quite seperate from each other.

Is CD MV what I’m looking for?

Thanks, Steve.

hi Steve

I don’t think this is what you are looking for. I raised the same question and essentially the MV operates through 1 storefront and payments are made to the store owner’s account for redistribution to the vendors.

Apparently there is a multi-store version in the pipeline, but I think this is still very early days.

If a customer buys from two different vendors, does it calculate postage costs seperately for each vendor or just one combined postage cost?

For example, if I buy a 400g book from one vendor and a 200g book from another vendor, does CS MV give me the postage for a 400g parcel and a 200g parcel or the postage cost for a 600g parcel?

Thanks, Steve.

Two questions:

Does anyone have suggested permissions for a Vendor that is not the site owner?

Is it possible for CS developers to create a class of user for Vendor, in addition to Administrator and Customer, with permissions suitable for a Vendor?

Thanks, STeve.

YES, I really agree with that. Everything should be able to work automatically. I is really a hassle for site admin if he has to assign every new vendor to a user group (a set of previlleges) manually.

I also thought to use the catalog mode only (without payment method setting) like a classiffied ads site. I want to let people assign for a vendor account for free (first) and their application (including its administrator use account) are automatically approved.

For now, main site admin have to approved it manually.

I know there will be spamming problem if site admin do not moderate each vendor application, but it really depend on what we want to achieve. And I think the benefit by letting people display their product just after they register (without the need to wait for approval) is bigger. This is a good way to get “FREE word of mouth traffic” and to get authority quickly. Then when our site is well known, we can charge people to display their products.

Just imagine the opportunity.
