CS-Cart Question

Just wondering,

If I deleted all the CS-Cart files from my host and re-uploaded a fresh copy then restored the database would all work well? My database stores about 1300 products current and about 900 members.

I know I would need to leave the images folder intact (not removing) and the local.config.php is there anything else I would need to do or better yet would this even work?

No. Reinstalling the cart will wipe-out the existing database. Let us know what the problem is and why you need to do this so we can help, Thanks - Sno

Well I would not be doing an install, just uploading the files and using my existing database.

The reason I am asking is because in the admin area, when i go to categories and try to expand those categories I get a browser error and am unable to expand the categories.

the error is as follows

Webpage error details

Message: Permission denied

Line: 10

Char: 33

Code: 0

I have checked permissions and all is fine. been stumped on this for weeks… was a result after last upgrade. I even reverted and all worked fine but when I did the upgrade again same problem.

Actually it did work and worked well.

I simply created a new folder on same server, installed a fresh copy of CS-Cart, exported my database from live store and imported it to new store.

I then deleted all files in old store (Accept images) and moved new store into root.

Boom!!! Newly installed store working perfectly… minus, known bugs that is…

Not to mention freed up allot of space from unused files from multiple upgrades…

I did however make a backup of live store before the process… (smart move considering I am good at fowling things up when I get to playing with files lol)

Was easy and now I have a new installation… The only thing was I had to have Support fix an error with the categories which was found in my config file… Not sure how that carried over to new store but all is working…

Thought I would pass this along as I have seen other posts wanting to do a fresh install and move store into it… Its actually quiet simple and works well…
