Release to fix bugs in 2.1 - when?

Like many other, I am now curious to know when CS Cart will have the next release to fix all the bugs in 2.1 ?

I am reluctant to start off with 2.1 knowing there are so many bugs and fear spending a lot of time doing an upgrade in 2 weeks time if 2.1.1 comes out to fix the bugs.

What is the expected timeline for next release?

Sorry to bug you guys at CSC about the bugs, but did you guys have any response on this simple question?

I would really appreciate an estimated timeframe so I don’t have to run another update in a few days or weeks time.

Going by the no. of views for this thread there must be a lot of users wanting to know the same answers on when the next bug fix will be released…!::stuck_out_tongue:

It was mentioned in another thread by CS guy to expect it by the end of this month. I’m too lazy today to find it now.

The new version of CS-Cart will be available nearly at the end of this month.

We should fix critical bugs and test them in full. Please wait a little.

Thanks.

As this will be my first use of CSC, I am not sure what effort will be required later to do an update to 2.1.x.

My issue/question is that if I start my production work with 2.1 and bring it to a stage where I am ready to go live,… I wish to know what I will be up for if I then had to update to version 2.1.x before going live ?

Is it a good idea to complete my work in 2.1 or should I wait for 2.1.x ?

I have to admit I am running out of patience waiting for the right version of CSC to become ready…it may be never!:???:

I am interested to hear from the past experience of users on this forum as to what might be the best option to take given the updates are never seamless?

Or does it make sense to just start with 2.0.15, get things set up, but don’t make any mods, and then wait for the 2.1.1?

If your shop has absolutely no mods, with standard not modified skin, cart out of the box, files on host not touched, no permissions changed then you can go ahead and run your shop now, then upgrade later.

If your shop is modified like mine, have paid mods installed then you stay with that version for a long long time…

I am considering upgrade that will be very painful but only when I hear of very stable release, 2.1 is not the one yet…

I recommend you to start work with 2.1.0. The next updates will be not so big, and they will be installed easy.

We are publishing new version each month or two. If some bugs are critical for you - you always may contact our support department.

Yeah, just start with 2.1, it will make the upgrade to 2.1.1 much easier. Yeah, there are a couple bugs with it, but nothing big, people just make a big deal because there’s a change. The problems with 2.0.15 are much worse. Especially since you are going to be starting fresh, start with 2.1. There will always be bugs (unless I write my own cart, haha), so just work around little issues for the time being. Also, don’t wait till the next version, if you do that you’ll always be waiting.

No big deal? (if everything is fine why your store is not upgraded?)

Thumbnails with extended features corrupted.

Image size corrupted.

Google base corrupted.

Are your product descriptions without images?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Agree 2.1 to 2.1.1 will hopefully be less painful I hope. I am not planning on making too many modifications if I can avoid it until I get to 2.1.1.

He’s not upgrading, so most of the issues aren’t a problem. Whatever bugs are remaining in 2.1 are trivial compared to an entire checkout system that’s broken in 2.0.15 since any mistake (to cc, ccv, address) gives you a failed order and leaves you screwed.

Well, the image sizes were wrong, so I just figured out the new corresponding sizes and changed them back and it seems that took care of that. I think the thumbnail issue was IE8 only, I use FF and Chrome.

Google base… well, I always thought their Google base implementation really blows hard, so I don’t use it. I think it’s basically useless if you need to put all your products under a single category. There should be a selectable google base category for each cart category for defaults, and more refine-able per product. That should be pretty simple to implement. Also I don’t know how it deals with product options, but I doubt I’d like that either, hehe.

I had some other issues where blocks weren’t placed quite right, and the bottom blocks were horizontal rather than vertical. Other than that most of the PITA was all the custom mods. I also have some custom code in exceptions.js, but almost everything in exceptions.js has been moved somewhere else… ahhhhhhh, so I have to find that still.

2tl,

How are things progressing…I take it that 2.1.x must not be too far away?
