Easy 1 hour Install on GoDaddy Hosting!

Some people on here lay the badmouth on GoDaddy without providing any specifics on what their issues are. I’ve been a GoDaddy customer for about 7 years now and yes… I’ve had some bumps in the road, but no more than I had with 1 and 1 or other companies.

So to help anyone else that’s having GoDaddy issues… I installed the latest version 2.15 on my GoDaddy Linux Shared hosting to see what the issues are. What I found was a simple installation. No special configurations required.

I was able to install the demo store in less than 1 hour on my GoDaddy hosting.

Longest time was uploading all the skins! The hardest part was setting up the SQL database, and even that was easy because there’s a help file to tell you how to do it. (I’ve included the link below)

This is the URL for the demo store on my GoDaddy Hosting: www.net-mart.us

Create the Database in the hosting control center. After it’s setup… about 10 minutes, you can click on the edit icon and copy the DB host address.

When I setup the DB, I selected SQL 4.x not 5.x. And I did NOT select Direct Access.

Here’s the help file for setting up the DB: http://help.godaddy.com/article/36

put the DB values in the install screen and install.

wow, it took over 8 seconds for your cs-cart homepage to load. I never had any bad experiences with Godaddy and was a customer since 2005, but their shared servers are slow with CS-Cart and Joomla.

9.22s (onload: 9.21s)

I’m on 20Mb… So yeah, I bash GoDaddy for my valid reasons, I’m not out to backstab you, just making people aware that GoDaddy can’t be considered business material for webhosting.

Personally I don’t give a **** what you use for hosting

It took like 20 sec to load…

I noticed with my own GoDaddy hosting (client’s to be more precise), when no one accesses your site for a while, it takes it longer to access it later on. If people keep accessing it, then it responds quicker. It is as if they put your site to sleep if there are no requests for a while…

PS: Easy 1 hour Install does not sound easy when 1 hour is involved.

We left GoDaddy 15 days after installing CS-Cart, and quite glad we did. At first it was ok, but you will soon find out the site will go slower than a 80 year old turtle that just got his back legs cut off. I do miss the 24/7 live support, but always got the same response to the slowness.

Since changing to our new host, I have never seen the site load so fast, and we generate non stop traffic and over 1,500,000 hits per month.

Is it me, or does mattcaswell seem awfully eager to tell us that GoDaddy will work with CSC and to help anyone out for free who needs it? Does he have an ulterior motive perhaps?

Thanks for the offer Matt. I did finally get things working. Not exactly sure what the problem was. GoDaddy tech support was very friendly and helpful but didn’t solve the problem. My best guess is that I goofed somewhere along the line. But it’s OK now.

Maybe he wants to get to heaven, bastard.

If Heaven = “Go Daddy Girl and Racing Star!” Danica Patrick then I guess I can’t blame the guy.

I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but did you ever think that perhaps I was just trying to help out and pay it forward for the help I got setting up my CS-CART. you don't know me or my motives, so don't make assumptions. If I can answer a question in 2 minutes and save someone an hour of frustration… why not offer to do it. Or maybe you're just wanting to charge people for help… thats an assumption… but it's wrong because I don't know you or your motives.
