10x website acceleration with WEBO Site SpeedUp

WEBO Site SpeedUp is a common solution to optimize website performance and make it faster. Recently there was released its CS-Cart addon with the following features:

  • Complete server side caching for anonymous users (and w/o any items in cart)
  • Smart cache clean up on product modifications.
  • Clean interface to access to all products features.
  • Complete client side acceleration provided with WEBO Site SpeedUp main product.

    WEBO Site SpeedUp installation to CS-Cart is very easy. It’s described in Wiki

    code.google.com/p/web-optimizator/wiki/InstallingCSCartPlugin

    Also there are a lot of articles about application tuning and configuration.

    Basic version of WEBO Site SpeedUp is free (Community Edition). Also it has Lite and Premium Editions, which allow you to accelerate client side by 2.5x and server side by 4x (totally 10x speedup).

Don’t know much about your solution but the website is very pretty. Very web 2.0.

Found a logical error:

Says that for non-commercial version it speeds up to 100%… So, it can be less than 100% while the original unmodified speed is (one unit or x1) 100%. Thus, one can conclude that the soft will slow down the site.

Well I’m using now SmartOptimizer and it works great, and reduced load speed 2 times… and I’m fully satisfied with SO.

I’m interested has anyone tried WEBO Site SpeedUp on CSC if yes let us know… I’ll try myself it on multivendor edition

    Ok, so I have installed WEBO on my CSC multivendor edition and here is my results:

    Before WEBO

    Total loading time:24.6 seconds

    Total objects:130 (333 KB)

    After WEBO

    Total loading time:25.3 seconds

    Total objects:130 (333 KB)

    it just does’nt work, and slows down the site :wink:

What did you use for testing ?

Nice tool, shows load speed from US … so basically in EU load speed will go up 2 times faster

@Arunas, with default (safe) configuration WEBO Site SpeedUp actually does nothing. It must be configured first to get the result. There are lot of docs in Wiki about configuration

For CS-Cart it better to start with installation

http://code.google.com/p/web-optimizator/wiki/InstallingCSCartPlugin

then step by step with the other articles

To test its functionality you can request a trial key (for 2 weeks) from the Personal Data page. It provides the same functionality as Premium Edition

CS-Cart plugin also have amazing native server side caching. For high load e-stores it’s a must have solution.
Thus, one can conclude that the soft will slow down the site.
@TexasGuy, speedup is about the loading speed. So if we have actual speed as high as 20 Kb/s for the website (300 Kb website in 15 seconds), 100% speedup will result in +100% of the current speed, 40 Kb/s for the website, or 7.5 seconds for the website. It’s 2x speedup.

So 400% speedup means 5x speedup, but our website hasn’t been updated for some time. Now we are offering 10x speedup, or 900%.

I did be interested in hearing from someone on this forums who has a real store and has used this.

Webo you should consider providing someone on these forums a license and a help configuring it and doing this may help you sell more licenses on this forum.

Just a suggestion.

@Arunas: you should not only install the application, but also tune with your performance options. Safe configuration in WEBO SIte SpeedUp actually does almost nothing (because it’s safe).

I paid for the light version and these are the results from pingdom

Before

Total loading time:7.2 seconds

After

Total loading time:4.7 seconds

I think I am going to buy the professional version

we have just purchased but the links on their site to download the files does not work. hope they are not fraud. we will see it. if all fine will let you know guys about the results.

none of those code.google.com links works…

Sure, it works!

I have a copy of the premium license and will be blogging about the results comparing 2 demo stores on the same server.

Still working through the setup/config/tweaking stages with Webo.

Stay Tuned!

I am not sure about math in Russia but in USA a x2 speed up is 200% of the original speed, not 100%. For an additional 100% you would have to explicitly specify addition, you cannot just implicitly use a number in math.

x1=100%=100%+0%

x2=200%=100%+100%

x3=300%=100%+200%

Then, it is customary to show a total performance like 540%, not 440% (+100%)

Math is a precise science.

“100% speedup will result in +100%” - fallacy.

100% OVER the original speed will result in 200%. However, a 100% speedup will be the original speed. It is not intuitive with the word “speedup” where usually it means acceleration. Yet, even acceleration can be 0 and even negative, vector wise. 100% OF (not OVER) is 100% original.

100% speedup != 2x speedup

it does brings down the http request. so means yes it works. there are problems too. for example:

if you are running other addons it might crush the website, but good thing is you can disable it and all goes away. so you dont loose anything. at least we havent yet:)

so far so good. needs to be tweaked better on the design side of the website to work it better.

we havent tested full functionality of the website yet though.

they told me to install this, install that bla bla… the only file you need to install is the cs cart file to your addons and once installed it downloads or dont what but copies speedup files to your addons.

I can get anyone a 20% discount if they are interested in both Light and Premium versions.

PM me for the link.

so it worked for you too?

I’m currently running some trials and working with Webo on optimal configurations.

But yes so far, using Google Pagespeed and YSlow, on identical demo stores on the same server have produced results.

I will be blogging the results when my tests are complete and will be sure to update this thread.

Sorry for code.google.com links, we have had awful 24 hours with Google Code team about access to the project, now all issues are closed.
