2.0.15 Released

CS-Cart 2.0.15 is mainly a bug fix release that introduces no new functionality, but only fixes the instable features of the previous CS-Cart versions. The most significant fixes and improvements include:

* Improved import/export procedures

* Ability to clear the cache from the Administration panel only. This improves the security of your store as an additional protection from DDoS attacks.

* Separate storage of product info for the products that are in the catalog and for the products that have been ordered by your customers. In previous CS-Cart versions, some of the product info in customer orders was taken directly from the product catalog, and if the store administrator changed the details of a product in the catalog, these changes also affected the customer orders. After we have placed the product info in the customer orders to a separate table in the store database, this is no longer the issue, and the store administrator can even remove a product from the catalog without changing the details of customer orders.

* Support for Paypal Express Checkout authentication by API signature. This makes the process of configuring PayPal Express Checkout in the CS-Cart Administration panel much easier.

And we also had to obsolete the phone number validation because different countries use different phone number formats, and the validation appeared to be too restrictive for many of our customers. For a complete list of changes, improvements and fixes, please refer to the changelog.

*Paypal Express Checkout: The customer could place an order using an unverified shipping address. Fixed.

how? if the customer does not have a verified address they can not make their order?

Excellent… Thanks CS-Cart team… we like upgrades

Still, even after reporting some misspellings, not even taking US-British differences, I am talking about blatant misspellings, they are still present in 2.0.15

Why? Not paying attention to details? Who cares about the language?

Tag “file_doesnt_have_key” has “does’t” which should be “doesn’t”

Tag “text_addon_installed” has “… successfuly” which is misspelled. Proper is “successfully”

Tag “anonimous” with EN “anonimous” is misspelled. Proper is “anonymous”

and some others…

These are things that are easliy fixed through the admin interface with no knowledge of coding required. The items they fixed were items that didn’t function properly and were causing people issues or presenting security holes. I don’t think it’s a lack of detail but more of a point of prioritization.

Developers should move to firefox

Trial download doesnt work yet!

After the installation with demo data, the default administrator username and password doesn’t work!!! I check ‘cscart_users’ table, it is empty there. What’s wrong with it?

Or Chrome or Opera. Really they all have spell checkers now except for IE. But chances are development isn’t taking place in the browser. And even if it was, they probably have their own language version installed which isn’t going to correct English anyway.

Drats! A new version just as I get ready to take some time off.

Work is never over!

Thanks CSC!

I don’t see any giant threads with people complaining about 2.0.15 yet so I assume it was smooth now.

No word on 2.1 alpha/beta…

i guess no one is online yet with 2.015 as with the earlier versions we all had bad experiences, so why update if i am going to have problems again and days of hassle. already 1 or 2 people complained about their orders in 2.015 so i better wait version 2.020 and then i update it to version 2.019

I think there are several people, including myself, running 2.0.15 without problems…

Thank you for drawing our attention to the issue with the language again. We checked most of the CS-Cart variables for the English language and we corrected many of them. Unfortunately, we missed to update the list of variables before CS-Cart 2.0.15 was released, and the corrections will be included in the next CS-Cart version.

As regards the differences between the British and American varieties of English, we are going to stick to the rules and standards that are commonly recognized as American English. This does not mean a lack of respect for those our clients coming from or working in the UK - we just do not have adequate resources to support both varieties, and we had to choose one.
