Bug tracker: new posting rules

Hello,

For the convenience of both clients and developers, we’d like to suggest separating bug and feature reports. So:

  1. Feature/improvement requests should be posted to our Ideas forum (cscart.uservoice.com).
  2. Bugs should be posted to the bug tracker (forum.cs-cart.com/vbugs.php).

All new non-bug-related posts to the bug tracker won’t be considered and will be closed.

All non-bug-related posts submitted earlier will soon be systematized and moved to the Ideas forum.

    Thanks.

Can you tell us when the existing feature requests in the Bug Tracker will be moved to the Ideas forum? Recently, there have been several of these feature requests which have been closed or marked as fixed even though there is an outstanding feature request. CS-Cart support staff suggests the the poster enter the feature request in the Ideas forum but that is often not possible because those of us most active in the Bug Tracker are likely to have already used our votes in the Ideas forum. At a minimum, when an existing post in the Bug Tracker system is marked closed or fixed, any outstanding feature requests in the posts should be entered into the Ideas forum by the support representative.

This also demonstrates one of the failures of the Ideas forum as it currently works: it is not a central repository for all suggestions and requests because people need at least 1 vote to create an idea. Is it possible to allow any idea to be entered even if the user has no votes left? If not, then each user should be given more votes (maybe 25 or 30 so that votes are still somewhat “precious”).

Or do you agree that the Ideas forum is not really a good central repository for all suggestions? If so, do you suggest we post all feature requests in the “Wishlist & Feature Requests” subforum (in which case posting to the Ideas forum is largely redundant). You could then monitor the “Wishlist & Feature Requests” subforum and you could enter the ideas you are willing to consider into the Ideas forum where users can then vote - perhaps this is a more honest approach.

Please let us know how you will address these matters.

Hi Bob,

I think uservoice should be the only repository for new features. My suggestion: give someone (e.g. - you) admin permissions to uservoice to allow him add new ideas without any votes. So, users discuss feature in “Wishlist & Feature Requests”, then moderator post it to uservoice.

What do you think?

Unfortunately list of features that will be moved to uservoice is not ready yet.

I think this is a good idea - the forums provide much better tools for discussion than does the UserVoice forum, but the UserVoice area is definitely better in terms of establishing priorities.

I would be happy to assist.

Bob

Hi Bob, you have admin privileges on uservoice now. Please check and let me know if everything is ok.

Everything is working properly. I’ll start adding ideas to the UserVoice system as I have time.
