Just in time. Excellent and its great to see quality free mods for CS-Cart!

I just installed this mod a few minutes ago and already love it. The search seems to work great.

It is sure nice to see a free addon. This forum used to be full of them, but not now. Thank you ShippingKit.

Brandon

Agreed. This is a really nice add-on. Thanks for your generous contribution to the community.

Bob

Thank you for this generous contribution!

Is there a way to tweak it so that it only pulls from the product name vs the product descriptions? On a large store, this could slow things down a little trying to search thru the descriptions.

I’m pretty sure it’s only pulling data from the ‘product’ field in the ‘product_descriptions’ database table, is it doing otherwise for you?

Thanks - Sno

Sno,

I think its scanning the whole descriptions as well… When I start typing a word that might appear, it does go out and try to match that up with the descriptions (long at least if not both descriptions) When I click on one of the results, the word I was looking for was in the description, not the product name. -This is fine for most sites and probably most desirable for most sites, but for heavily poplulated sites, it could raise the response time and database load enough so that the user would have already hit enter without knowing that it was about to suggest his/her term.

Other suggestions for this mod would be to be able to choose the fields it searches thru… We already have the “search words” field in the products, short descriptions, product name, etc.

Just food for thought, but ideas nonetheless…

It is truly a long awaited addition to the cart!

A new version is available. Now you can choose in which fields to search and a search type (“exact phrase”, “any of words”, “all of words”).

Big thumbs up from me,

Thanks

2nd revision rocks!.. This one has my vote for one of the best shared mods of the year!

Hi,

I do not have this installed to try, but wondering how this search behaves when a product is in more than one category, ie in 4 categories? Does it return the same product 4 times or only once, from the products primary category?

Thanks,

Bob

Hmm I get an error when I do a search on the front end. The popup that should have the suggestions has an error instead:

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: “/top.tpl” in /home//public_html/cart/lib/templater/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: “/central.tpl” in /home/
/public_html/cart/lib/templater/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: “/left.tpl” in /home//public_html/cart/lib/templater/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: “/right.tpl” in /home/
/public_html/cart/lib/templater/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

.

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: “/bottom.tpl” in /home/***/public_html/cart/lib/templater/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Received no errors during the install though.

I get the same error on my local environment as well. I tried changing my skins and receive the same error. Seems like the path to the tpl files isn’t correct which is why it is showing this error.

Permissions maybe.?

Tested this on my laptop as well so seems odd that it would be a permission issue in 3 completely different environments. I even went into my server and put all the files at 777 just to test and it still didn’t work. Tool Outfitters do you have this working on 2.0.12?

This shippingkit company is in my opinion the premier mod maker for CS-cart so far. I love their FedEx kit and releasing free stuff to once in awhile is a nice gesture. Sure makes me want to continue to do business with these guys. Thanks for this!

(cross post from the other thread)

I have tried ie and FF as well as all the typical moves (cleared cached, reinstalled addon, disabled my_changes).

I have the electro skin and no mods outside of my_changes. Is there a step I might be missing here??

I have included a screenshot of my top-search div. Looks like the ul autosuggest is getting added by the script correctly…

Thanks,

Joe

This mod works great for me, just one thing, when the suggested results appear, all the page moves down, leaving an empty space while the search results are there. Any way of changing this so that the search results box show’s in top of the other elements instead of pushing them downowards?

Thank’s

In firefox I cannot press EDIT, javascript error, had to configure from IE.
