[solved] Possible Pay Pal Bug

A client of mine has had 2 orders fail using Pay Pal Pro and the problem lies in the expiration date of the credit card and the way it passes the information to Pay Pal.

This problem has only occurred in 2010. Prior to 2010 there were no problems. According to Pay Pal the expiration date is being passed with too many digits.

I attempted to order using my Visa card and each time it failed citing an expiration date mismatch. I had entered the expiration date correctly at checkout.

The version is 2.0.11

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Nope, we are using Paypal Pro with 2.0.11 without any problems whatsoever.

PS: The “Start Date” setting didn’t get ticked on the individual credit card type settings did they?

I’m still on 2.0.10, but have processed about 10 orders in the last week using both PayPal Pro and Express checkout without issue.

No it didn’t. I’ll have to do some sleuthing in the Pay Pal account. Something changed that’s for sure. In the meantime I have the client switching to authorize.net.

I am on PayPal Pro and am not charged any reserve.

After I posted, I did a google on this reserve and it seems that only some customers are hit with this. I found this thread pretty interesting. Especially the post about how to have it removed: http://community.auctiva.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5371029503/m/918107191

Calvin you need to fill out an application and there is a $15.00 per month processing fee. You’ll need to send them a voided check to prove you have a bank account and a few other things. It’s not difficult. If you’re interested, I am a reseller and I can send you the link to sign up.

I’m glad to hear that someone else is having a problem. I am going to try uploading an earlier version of the Pay Pal module and see what happens.

i cancelled the pro cause it was not working correctly so i am stumped right now only way people can pay is use paypal standard

only one issue is i cannot have any new merchant acct cause they will do a credit check on m,e and i am under bankruptcy so that creates that problem with them running a credit check the bankruptcy will find out so what do i do to increase sales when some people cannot understand they dont need a paypal accct to use standard paypal ?

I have posted a bug report and contacted the developer directly. Let’s see what comes back.

I changed cert_key_pem.txt to api_certificate.pem.txt. Voila! Done!

Hi Roban,

could you provide a step by step how to fix this?as i use only paypal this is a must…

thanks

What? Some of you are only getting hit for a pending/reserve of 5%??? Am I missing something? I have been with paypal for 10 years and a heavy hitting customer. I pay the $30 a month fee for paypal pro/express and they hold 20% of all my money for 60 fricken days!!! Unreal. As I type this they have $6500 of my money on hold waiting for 60 days to clear. I’ve not been a problem customer and don’t get many chargebacks.

Someone explain to me if I’m being mistreated and/or who to contact? They used to have reps contact me cause I was a big customer, but I’ve heard nothing from anyone at paypal in over a year. Anyone know how to reach the right people to get my rate reduced?

P.S. Of course as soon as they started HOLDING my money the money market started paying less then 1% when it used to be 3,4 and even 5%

Just rename cert_key_pem.txt to api_certificate.pem.txt and upload to payments/certificates. In your Admin back end navigate to Administration/Payment methods and then to your Pay Pal Pro settings. In ‘Certificate File Name’ replace cert_key_pem.txt with api_certificate.pem.txt.

What difference does this makes?

If the file is payments/certificates/cert_key_pem.txt

should it be renamed? Is it paypal pro problem or website payments + express checkout also?

I am getting some open orders with paypal but some are ok?
