why does my administration say that 2.0.11 is available? but it’s not in the helpdesk file area?

yes now it’s really out! gonna isntall it on a cart i have still in development (should be published in early january)

I just started playing with 2.0.11 myself when is making me wonder if CS-Cart is ever going to actually learn to spend some actual real time in QA / serious beta testing before making public release?
Just about each and every version of CS-Cart has been released almost immediately on the spot right after coding is finished with very little to no testing each release and the complaints that quickly come back almost every release very vividly amplifies that very point. Consumers become the real beta test group!
After the disaster prone and botched 2.0.9 and all the mistakes that went with that, the QA group was put together and measures start to be taken by CS-Cart to perhaps finally correct those long time mistakes desperately needing to be addressed and finally a glimmer of hope is seen for future releases …
Now both 2.0.10 and 2.0.11 have been released with very little to no time spent in QA whatsoever just the same as any prior release and it gets handed over to the general public almost as fast as we get it with very little review time available to make any adequate assessment of the pitfalls or potential problems.
(To be perfectly frank, 2.0.10 should not have even been considered for release until roughly about now)
My conclusion is CS-Cart has still not learned their lesson on this point and my advice to everyone would continue to remain extremely cautious and a bit skeptical about any new releases. If you an early adopter, my advice to you is to keep good backups of your original site and if possible first deploy on a duplicate test site location before updating your real production site.
The rest of you — might want to wait and see what happens with everyone else before leaping.
CS-Cart has great potential but they are going to slice their own throat if they don’t learn this soon!
Aside from more extended and detailed testing in a greater number of test environments, if I were CS-Cart, I would also additionally consider releasing incremental patches to transform heavily modified custom installations into the newer version code without the work of re-installing, re-modding, etc etc etc. This is the largest complaint I see CS-Cart users make each and every release and even now with 2.0.11 already! If you take a look at phpBB forum software and many other internet applications being distributed out there doing this of alternate upgrade release, you’ll get a better idea of what I am talking about.
i agree, the upgrade to 2.0.11 isn’t easy…
it works great if i do a clean install… but updated my 2.0.10 (2.0.0 updated) is still giving some oddness… like 404 errors on new modules pages.
i don’t know yet how to easily update my db…
right now i do a clean new install, and use a db tool to sync the structures.
how do you do it?

Well, the database updates are also a part of the automatic upgrade process through your admin panel. (I am not about to tell you that there are never issues with the auto update process, however, that is the plan!)

ah ah .
yes i did the automatic upgrade first. but the db was not updated properly (it didn’t create the new shipping table, and new seo fields, for example)

I learned this (the hard way) A LONG time ago, way before I started running on CS-Cart! I am never the first one outta the gate to install an update as I simply cannot afford for our site to be out of commission for any length of time, nor do I enjoy stressful situations. 
I like to wait approx. 1 week after an update is released to take the plunge as final release bugs are typically realized & fixed by then.
Shame shame shame.
My store will not re-open.
Yes I clicked the “Open store”, the popup advises that the store is open, however it is not.
Changing tabs within admin shows how the “Close store” is again active.
Pity really.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I reverted back to 2.0.10, but the store will not re-open.
Edit 2: Fixed:
Needed to clear cache in admin panel /admin.php?dispatch=categories.manage&cc
Upgraded to 2.0.11 and now store works again.

Just tried it on my install and seems to have worked perfectly but I had only just installed the previous version so not much changed from standard install.
PEOPLE!
Do not complain about not being able to upgrade your heavily modified shops. Do you think that other ecommerce scripts upgrade well? I work with Joomla CMS and it’s a pain in the [you know where] when a new version comes out. There’s always something not right and only, because I have changed a few lines of the php code in it. I have to deal with 18 Joomla based websites and this is never-ending upgrade story. However, websites with no modifications are pretty OK on upgrades. No probs whatsoever. There’s no perfect upgrade script and never will be, regardless of how many months they spend on testing. You paid 265 bucks and you expect CS guys to create a script, which will upgrade a few thousands modified shops smoothly? If you do not want to pay anything then suffer and stay with basic and standard functions of CS Cart, or pay thousands and sleep well. They will do the job for you.
How to …
Do not modify original skins and if you play with the script, play nicely and use HOOKs. Use quality web servers and not those shared, with some 5000 other clients. Ask your hosting company for a minimum of 256RAM and 15% of CPU and your upgrades won’t break in the middle of upgrade process. Via FTP, backup your entire website+DB and do not trust the REVERT BACK function. Change back to the BASIC skin, clear cache, disable custom modules and then, go ahead. Do it, clean the cache once again and then try you shop. If wrong, restore it from your backup and then investigate. A few simple steps to avoid the trouble and wasted hours or days.
And do NOT jump the first minute the upgrade is available if your shop works OK. Leave it for the weekend and ask here why and what.
I have to agree with most of Spiral’s comments concerning releasing too quickly.
In my opinion CS-Cart would serve their customers and their reputation much better if they’d just hold off on adding new features for a while and focus on establishing a stable release. Continue releasing for beta testing as issues are worked out, but don’t release for general use until the software is stable. Once you are on a stable platform, then concentrate on requested new features and any code patches they might require, but release these only after they’ve been beta tested thoroughly as well.
I still support CS-Cart. It just seems to me like they’re trying to do too much at a time. Trying to do too much at a time just invites errors to creep in.
But then, on the new feature front, they’re just reacting to ‘our’ constant demands for more nifty bells and whistles, aren’t they? I understand the impulse to insist that these new features be added to make your store competitive, I want them too, but at what cost? I for one would FAR prefer a dumb, near featureless but stable store over one with lots of features that is full of bugs.
Based on my reading here, there hasn’t been a stable release since 1.3.5 SP4 … and in my memory, that was the first since I purchased in '06. That’s not a great track record.

If a “core” release was made stable, new features could be added incrementally, which a heavily modded shop could easily absorb. I understand major releases like 2.0 requiring major coding, but if I tried to make my full set of mods every time a new release of 2.x came out, I wouldn’t accomplish anything else. I’ve got a business to run.
I can’t afford my live shop to be a beta test. I won’t upgrade to 2.x until the general consensus is that it is finally stable, maybe 6 months after that. It’s on the shelf for now.
