CS Cart vs Network Solutions (Commerce Space)

We have looked at a number of carts and have narrowed our selection down to those listed above. I know the other is a hosted solution, but they offer great support for someone who is not a developer and could possibly save money that would have to be spent hiring a developer to do updates, and make minor fixes on CS Cart. I can tell that many of you are developers and this is not a concern.

What is your feedback on why CS Cart is better than Network Solutions (Commerce Space) and others that are similar to these solutions that offer in some cases, more features that CS Cart?

Thanks & God Bless,

TGeneral

Any feedback?

I dont know the other hosted cart. But i only like a cart if they on my server and i have all rights to do all things with my car. It is my own, and a hosted solution isnt your own.

i have more flexibility with cs-cart vs. a hosted cart. Thats my meaning.

And the support on cs-cart is very good!

Compare Features:

CommerceSpace Features:

Especially CommerceSpace Package Comparison:

With CS-Cart, you HAVEN’T any limitation!

CS-Cart DON’T block or limit your business:

Products, category/subcategory, customers, mailboxes, storage space, monthly data transfer, and so on, are UNLIMITED.

CommerceSpace is limited with resources and can block your business tomorrow night. Even Premium level is limited…

So, ask yourself this question:

What is good for my business: Limited or Unlimited?

Lee Li Pop

Triplex are you a web developer or designer?

Thanks Lee Li Pop. I’ve actually compared the two. I haven’t seen anything that CS Cart has that Commerce Space doesn’t have other than possible limitations that will only be a major concern if you have a really large e-commerce operation or special needs. I guess my question would be were do you see limitations that would impact a large business? Are you a developer? I am looking at this from the view point of a non-developer who does not have to constantly contact developers to make simple changes.

I would like to know what areas do you foresee where the limitations will be a problem. Would the set limitations that Commerce Space has caused a problem for you in your current business if you don’t mind me asking? If so, in what areas?

I really just want to look at this with a thorough comparison as much as possible. Thanks so much for your feedback.

TGeneral,

Commerce Space offers little that CS Cart does not with one exception free phone support - presumably with native speakers of English.

However, what does that support cover just setting up the cart? Or extensive step by step modifications?

Well, I really love cs-cart because of the following

  1. Great Product
  2. Great Support from the makers and from this forum
  3. Constant updates and improvments
  4. I can run my own server and do whatever I want to it.

Maybe you should compare CommerceSpace with ez Merchant.

    http://www.ez-ms.com/

At least if you don’t like ez (but you should, tbirnseth is a top guy). All you need to do is back-up your cart and load it on different web host.

With CommerceSpace, it looks like your pretty much stuck to them

Hello TG,

I’m just a simple business owner.

Large or small business, limitation is a limitation.

CommerceSpace or CS-Cart, if you need some simple changes, you need to DIY or hire a developer.

With CSC you can ask some help, here in this forum. What about with CommerceSpace?

It’s simple:

I started my e-commerce website with 20 products. Six months later my catalog was 80 products. Now, 344 products.

CS-Cart: $265 one time.

CommerceSpace: $26.95 a month in the beginning. $49.95 a month six month later. And now $99.95 a month.

Just because I develop my offer… Is it bad to increase my catalog?

I don’t think so, because my customers are happy. Google is happy too, because I increase my pages. My banker is happy, because my bank account increase.

Of course, I would pay $100 a month for CommerceSpace. BUT…

I prefer keep this $1200 a year to travel in China with my husband and my son!

I’m not the only girl here. Ask Moka

Thanks for your feedback. My concern with support is if in the middle of the day there is an error, we would be in a really bad position. CS Cart support for us, being that we are in the US (EST) is not ideal at all. The support does not just cover the set up of the cart. It covers assistance with any of the functionalities of the software. The custom HTML support will be handled by your own developers.

i am only a cs-cart user. I cant design and i cant develope. Why you aks me?

Thanks for your feedback all. Lee Li Pop, I understand your feedback, but I also know it all comes down to personal preference. Many of you guys on the forum seem to like CS-Cart, but have a lot of problems with it. It’s interesting. I agree with you, it’s great to pay the $265 once, but if you have a cart that has continuous problems and is behind in upgrades, you’ll end up paying more than that in the long run and without support. You’re in China and I’m in the US. Right now, CS Cart support is not ideal for us. We don’t see those limitations you mentioend as a problem at this point. When we grow, just as any business you consider new technologies so that you’re always ahead of the curve. Right now, we’re not convinced that CS-Cart is so cutting edge that it will be ahead of the curve. They’re better than some, and not as good as others. All shopping carts have their pros and cons. Each business owner has to make the best decision for their business.

I appreciate your feedback and observations.

I have played many shopping cart and waste my time which never came back again. So i always recommend choose CS-CART, there is nothing better than this cart and their features and support by the forum members or developers.

Maybe I can chime in here as someone who recently purchased CS-Cart, is US based, am not a developer and just went through the same decision making.

I just purchased CS-Cart last month and am now in the process of setting up my site.

To date I have had no problems with CS-Cart crashing or not working.

I have found that as far as support goes, this forum and the knowledge base is a great source for information. Any questions I have had, were resolved with a simple search of these forms, or looking at the knowledge base.

Now if you do go with CS-Cart, your next hurdle will be finding a good host with a good record. I can help you out with some resources there if you want.

I evaluated around 20 different cart solutions hosted and licensed.

My other top picks were:

Hosted:

Pinnacle cart (through aplus.net)

Serchfit (my top contender for a hosted solution)

BigCommerce

CoreCommerce

3D Cart

Vendio

Licensed:

Cube Cart

X-Cart

Pinnacle cart (as a one time purchase)

Interspire (same as the hosted solution of BigCommerce)

I ended up going with CS-Cart because it had the same or better features as all the other companies, plus I owned it, so my only monthly cost was for hosting. Also, it didn’t charge me for the more products or bandwidth I had. Also, the best bang for buck IMO

I am sure there are other Hosted products out there that I looked at that I had deleted from my list because there features were the same as everyone else. The big thing you should really look at is what the hosted solutions charge for bandwidth, as you may find that you are paying extra in bandwidth fees.

If you haven’t already I would strongly recommend checking out serchfit if you are set on going with the hosted solution.

Hope this helps

EDIT. I would stay away from Miva, to many reported issues, and you may end up paying through the nose for features. Also Interspire/BigCommerce had some big issues with discounts and Coupon codes according to some of the members on their forum, and this was a big issue for me.

Lee Li Pop

Right, which is why I recomended Serchfit for a hosted solution. Like I said, they were my top picks, but not the winner.

CS-Cart beats all hands down in the non-hosted Small-Mid size company shopping carts.

But that being said, the Interspire store actually doesn’t have any SEO problems with the URL’s, I tested out a demo store, and you can get URL’s like CS-Cart. However, some of there “Add On’s” were half baked and many merchants were having issues with them, with no replay or fixes from the vendor.

Also, a license from Interspire was about $1800 for the same features that are in CS-Cart

I must say that I tried many many shopping carts before CS-Cart:

EPages

Prestashop

ZenCart

X-Cart

Interspire

ViArt

MivaMerchant

and some other’s not so famous

Ok, CS is not perferct, far from it, it has it’s flaws, like all the others, but I have no doubt in my mind whenI say that, from the above, it is the best one. It is strong, well structured, very very functional, the safest of all, the one with less bugs of all the above…

When I remember the nightmare it was working with Prestashop, Epages or ZenCart for example, I just congratulate myself on choosing CS-Cart!

And one little detail about the hosted cart’s (ePages is a hosted cart), most of the times you don’t have access to the files, so, from the smallest things to the major ones, you can’t change anything, not even a simple tag like google’s webmaster one, nothing at all, what is going to make you fall behind in SEO matters.

Well, this is at least my honest opinion after working with some shopping carts.

Best of luck;)

Thanks for your feedback.
