Thanks Jesse, I download the zip file and winzip says its not a valid file. Do I need to use something other than winzip?

Posted 15 September 2007 - 02:27 AM #102

Try this:

paste in your browser, I don't like live links ;)
knoxit.com.au/data/root.zip

If all else fails try using Firefox to download from the forums.

Personally I use WINRAR www.rarsoft.com as it's got a lot more features then winzip by far.

Once 1.3.4 is released, this mod can be updated also. It would be a simple matter to fetch the category/product name and formatting the link.

speaking of seo mod where does this show up at in admin can someone give me a illistration of what i should see if this is working ?

Just upgraded to 1.3.4sp3, followed instructions carefully and using Zyles SEO code, and it will not validate. I get the following error when validating (similar to Dominos had?) :

Schema validating with XSV 2.10-1 of 2005/04/22 13:10:49

Schema validator crashed

The maintainers of XSV will be notified, you don't need to
send mail about this unless you have extra information to provide.
If there are Schema errors reported below, try correcting
them and re-running the validation.

* Target: http://mydomain/shop...=google_sitemap
(Real name: http://mydomain/shop...=google_sitemap
Last Modified: Tue, 20 Nov 2007 17:05:27 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7d PHP/4.4.4)
* The target was not assessed

Low-level XML well-formedness and/or validity processing output

Error: Character data not allowed in prolog
in unnamed entity at line 1 char 1 of http://mydomain/shop...=google_sitemap

So, what do I look for as possible causes? Thanks for any advice!

[EDIT : I rewrote with a different editor and re-uploaded again, issues are now :

1) the following validating message :

# Target: http://mydomain/shop...=google_sitemap
(Real name: http://mydomian/shop...=google_sitemap
Server: Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7d PHP/4.4.4)
# docElt: {None}br
# No declaration for document root found, validation was lax
# The schema(s) used for schema-validation had
no errors
# No schema-validity problems were found in the target

2) header problem that Jesse mentioned a few pages back

3) Google says "unsupported file format" when downloading the sitemap.

Any help?]

Success, finally! No errors that I know of, and Google likey. Seems to have been a text editor issue for me, and I suspect that has to do with a lot of the problems experienced with mods cut/pasted off from these forums. I tried 5 different editors before I found out what I was doing wrong. For anyone having similar problems with this mod and cut/pasting others, this is what helped me :

1) find an editor that encodes in UTF-8
2) find an editor that saves in unicode file format
3) find an editor that does NOT save the BOM (byte order marker at the beginning)
4) get rid of any spaces at the end of any line within code, double-check, they do hide!

Thanks again to Sculpt for the mod, Zyles for the SEO mod, and Jesse and the others I may have forgotten who helped with the errors. Persistance pays off!

One last question I'm curious about... does Google mind if you have two sitemaps listed in their tools? And does it matter? (This mod outputs about 200 url's, and another one I do manually outputs 465?)

Thanks again!

Too fast. :(

Google still seems to like, I get no errors on customer or admin side, but validating brings back the following :

Schema validating with XSV 2.10-1 of 2005/04/22 13:10:49

* Target: http://mydomain/mysh...=google_sitemap

* docElt: {http://www.google.co...map/0.84}urlset
* No declaration for document root found, validation was lax
* The schema(s) used for schema-validation had
no errors
* No schema-validity problems were found in the target

Sorry to keep posting, but I can't stand it when something doesn't work when it should. Advice?

'logs' => $targets_dir.'logs.php',
'google_sitemap' => $targets_dir.'google_sitemap.php',

supposed to be

'logs' => $targets_dir.'logs.php',
'google_sitemap' => TARGETS_DIR . 'google_sitemap.php',
